Re: Any information on Haikou ?
Bro sky lee, how much is ur budget to stay at the hotel? U can stay Jin Ri Hotel that cost around 150+rmb or Bin Hai Lou (budget hotel) around 60rmb. There were 2 saloons beside Bin Hai Lou and there were a stretch of saloons side by side (cant remember the road name) about 20mins walk from Jin Ri Hotel. From the airport, u can take the train (similiar to spore MRT) to QiongHai station (Train service about 30-60mins per interval), the cost will be less than 32rmb cos it cost me 32rmb to take from Haikou East (1st station, then to Meilan Airport staition) to QiongHai. The train offer 1st class seat (which is 6 to a private cabin and usually 10-15rmb more expensive than 2nd class) and normal seating for 2nd class. If the seat is fully occupied, just buy a ticket without seat (stand all the way) at the same price of 2nd class. Just buy a 2nd class will do but no harm if u want to experience a 1st class. Upon reaching Qionghai, walked out and u will see taxi waiting for u. 5 mins drive and u will reach the town area. Cost around 15rmb but they usually quote around 20rmb and above. So bargain with them. Remember to try the lao ya (old duck) soup, soup very nice but the duck meat same like the famous Wenchang chicken, difficult to tear off the meat. And not forgetting rabbit meat, delicious also.

Re: Any information on Haikou ?
KTV im not sure cos seldom cheong ktv oversea. If u stay Jin Ri Hotel (straight translate into english is 'Gold Day'), try to stay room 807 or 907, at least got street view. But in China, they need u to pay upfront deposit of 300rmb (for this hotel) if u book a room for one day, they will refund u upon checking out after deducting the room rate. This hotel is located near a cross junction, just cross over and u can see rows of shop houses. On the right of the shop houses u can find 2-3 saloons that can get mm. Another one is, from hotel comes out, turn right and walked straight for 20mins, then turned right again where u can see many saloons side by side (they dun open so early, maybe after 5pm). ST- 150-200rmb. LT-450-600rmb. If u go for long time, the gal will ask u to pay first. Try to negotiate to pay half 1st in case after one round they chu pattern liao. There is a massage parlour call 'Ai Li' or 'Li Hua' located in the hotel itslf (hotel same name as massage). Same thing, from hotel, cross the road n walked straight down for 10mins. Its on ur right. Try a massage call 'Guo Zhun'. After entered, strip naked. Lie down and the gal used a transparent container, with some tubes attached to cover ur didi, then she on the machine and water started to flow into the container. The gal will control the bubble by tapping the tube to make ur didi shiok. After half an hour, the gal then proceed to oil massage (whole body) for about an hour then 'jua gen'. Lastly, milk bath. Total 2hrs, damage 258rmb. Because we got 3 people, just anyhow ask got discount or not and the reception ask us to buy a top up card for 700rmb and got discount 20%. After calculation, more chepaer so buy the top up card since going there for foot massage also.

Re: Any information on Haikou ?
like to post my experience on the tigerairways flight from sg to haikou on the 28th feb
as i witnessed, there was a passenger who encountered some medical emergency at the 2hr mark during the flight. the flight attendants were not able to assess his medical condition and just took an oxygen gas tank to let him breathe. a few minutes later, they started to ask for doctors and/or nurses to come forward to help the guy, btw the announcement was made in english when most of the passengers on board were from mainland china. then later some guy came along and did some CPR on the fellow while even later on more china girls did CPR on the fellow. all this while the flight attendants did not do any CPR on the fellow. later the flight was diverted to vietnam 1hr after the fellow had his medical condition. and it seems like the guy was dead as the flight attendants carried his body and left it on the seats without looking into him any further. question is: 1. aren't flight attendants supposed to be trained in first aid 2. why didn't the plane land in thailand which i suspect is nearer since it's at the 2hr mark. 3. why didn't the flight attendants make the help announcement in mandarin there u have it, budget airline with budget services! |

Re: Any information on Haikou ?
Goofy, I dun hv any contact there except a taxi driver. If u go Hainan to cheong, I dun find it is a v gd place to cheong (maybe I miss out all those fun). But if ur trip include visiting places of interests, then maybe worth the trouble to go. Places of interests such as the previous post that I mention. Overall, IMHO, Hainan not a gd place to cheong. I would recomend xiao chian dao and hatyai rather then Hainan. As for xiao chuan dao, not suitable for those that love to cheong ktv n HC cos there only clean ktv n massage parlour.

Re: Any information on Haikou ?
I beg to differ. You should ask the taxi driver. Like most taxi drivers, they may be able to recommend you some good places to cheong. I remembered when I went to Sanya a few years back, and the taxi driver took us to a place, quite similar to our Geylang area, where you can can pick and choose. There were many SYTs from all over China, costing only about $200 RMB, short-time. At Qionghai, there is also a hotel where we stayed, called Chang Long where there is a KTV at the 3 or 4 storey. Ask the mami and you can have a good selection. Rate about higher.

Re: Any information on Haikou ?
Goofy, the place u mention in Sanya or any southern part of China which u stated similiar to our geylang is what they so call saloon (Fa Lang). The price, 200rmb for ST is almost the same everywhere in the southern part of China. LT will be 400-600 where 400-500 normal rate (500 i consider expensive already at Saloon rate). But if u talk about KTV where u pay a higher rate (which is usually 800rmb for LT) to get a LT (may or may not be better than a saloon mm), that is definately no no to a budget cheongster. Of cos to each his own, i cheong oversea at least 6 times a year so have to be budget. If just once or twice a year, 800rmb for Lt for 2-3 nights of cos affordable. But conclusion, Hainan i will definately give it a miss in future unless i really need to go there for other purposes. Anyway just a reminder, never ever step into a massage parlour for one dragon service or FJ cos the gal can be duno who's auntie [old, ugly (subjective) and fat]. Maybe u can try it out to confirm whether my observation true or not.

The hotel i stayed is clean enough for sg standards. No cockroaches running around etc. So you can consider. The massages i took are also decent, not the piano kind. Opted for chinese style mostly. All the rates are stated in my post. |
