I think the best rate will always at Raffles Place Arcade:

Today selling at 2.448 to 2.452 depends on which money changer you go to. Majority quoted 2.45

In JB the trick is to look at the indicative rates as guide only. Do not change at the 2 money changers after customs (after shell on the left of highway), they are blood suckers but still some people still patronize them? duh!?

Go a little further till opposite Plaza Pelangi or on the same row with crystal crown hotel and inquire from the few money changers there, usually they give .02+ more than the indicative rates for example indicative is 2.42 they might give in the region of 2.44 to 2.445, best of luck hunting.....

Few years ago, the rate in JB is better than Sinagpore. Ever since they standardise their official rate, the rate is worst than Singapore. privately, from my experience, you wont get 1 ringgit more then official rate in any outlet in JB. For your reference, last Friday I changed at 2.45, JB rate is 2.42 on Sunday.

As at 30 Jul 09, Arcade rates are between 2.44 to 2.446. The best rate I quoted the other day was closed as I reached there close to 6.30pm.
