It was just lust (last) Friday, that I was at the airport leaving for Cambodia. It was not a full flight and a slightly shorter flight than Bangkok.

Landed impressed with airport infrastructure, aerobridge, duty free, etc. Even customs was high tech. Although at random, i was the lucky one that had to do 10 fingers on the scanner. There are no fees to be paid, but a few forms to complete. Did 3 in total but only 2 were applicable. Overall I thought the city was well maintained than Ho Chin Minh or Hanoi.

Taxi was arranged by hotel, USD12-14. Short half hour drive to King Grand Suites. Next to an iconic local restaurant I am told, Khmer Surin. Didn't get a chance to patronise though. Hotel was very nice and better than I expected (remember to lower your expectations).

Took a chance to visit Casino NAGAworld. Tuk-Tuk was USD2 for the short trip. Bet amounts similar to Singapore. USD25 at BlackJack tables. Slot machines, roulette tables, etc. Sadly blew USD100

. There is also a pick up joint called Darlin Darlin in the premises. Although I did not go in, I understand the rate is USD100 for a bring back.

First night, bro Naemlo was kind enough to show me and bro WFG around. If you are the guy that likes to get WASTED, Phnom Penh is for you. Beer less than USD1

. Get pissed all you want.

We headed to the small bars at Soi 104 and 136 (imagine the road indexing like New York) - they are quite closely near each other and take your pick on the bars. Oasis was a clear winner at 136 and Air Force bar at 104 for me. Must have hop around more than ten bars. Lady Drinks are affordable at USD3. Do keep tabs, as these girls are not that simple. Bar fine is USD10. Bonk rate thereafter depends on your negotiation skills. Within a range of USD50-USD100. Quality of girls are ok, but hard to get very fair girls. Smoking is also allowed within bars. English language won't get you far, so pay attention.

Didn't really do much after that for the trip...visited a local mall, there's a driving range and what probably surprised me was the North Korean restaurants there. Staff were fair North Koreans serving their lovely cuisine. Mesmerised. This was probably the trip highlight...price was very reasonable.

Other tips are, make sure to have very small USD in denominations of USD1 or USD5. USD10 or USD20 comes handy for bonking only - or casino playing.

There are very decent restaurants there with a lot of western influence. Those who are contemplating, have a blast in Phnom Penh.
