Sorry about the confusion. It is better to pretend to know some common phrases. Then, the lady will think twice before she over quotes. I stayed in both countries before albeit a short period. It would be nice if you can say some greetings like sok sbai..cheam reap soo and if she ask you whether you know khmer..just smile and pretend that you do know like khyoum deng..then she won't overquote. No need to be fluent in that particular language. Just a few phrases will suffice. I do travel to Cambodia/Vietnam on a quarterly basis and will pm you if I am there..bro..take care
