SINGAPORE - A car was caught on camera smashing into two police vehicles at high speed on the Tampines Expressway (TPE) in the direction of Changi Airport on Thursday night (Dec 10).

A video of the incident, which was posted on Roads.sg's Facebook page, showed the car travelling on the fast lane of the highway. In the video, the driver of the car seemed unable to brake in time before colliding into the rear of the police car and an enforcement motorcycle used by the auxiliary police.

According to local reports, the accident occurred at around 10.30pm on Thursday night. The male driver of the car and two police officers were taken to Changi General Hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries.

The high impact of the accident caused the car's bonnet and the rear of the police car to be smashed, as seen in pictures on Road.sg's Facebook page.

Lianhe Wanbao reported that an eyewitness of the accident heard the driver of the car, described as a Chinese man who appeared to be at least 50 years old, apologising to the police. The man also seemed to be mumbling and telling the police that he was tired.

It was also reported that police investigations were not completed until five hours after the accident occurred, at about 4am on Friday morning.

It is understood that the two police officers injured in the accident were on the TPE settling a prior accident which occurred the same evening. The earlier accident involved two cars.
