Remember it was the fucking British that made you Singapore Chinese poor people and made Chinese worked as coolies and night soil carriers. Singapore and China Chinese were wealthy traders under the Qianlong dynasty and was a prosperous nation. We Singapore Chinese ( and China Chinese) should stand up and take the bastard British to demand an apology for causing Chinese to be poor people. Making money from drug was unacceptable. ----------------- were controlled by the Nawab of Bengal, opened to the cultivation of large plantations that provided immense economic wealth for the British Empire and an immense social andeconomic burden for the Chinese during the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries. Asnoted by Spence (1975), “it was reported that Chinese peasants tended to consume about twenty-five percent of the opium that they produced and the rest was imported from India.… Opium transformed China, economically, socially, politically and culturally.” The question of whether opium was a benefit or an evil may be almost irrelevant while it causedsocial disrupt for one of the most populous areas of the world. Its impact was so diverse, pervasive and so profound that the question of the fate of individual human beings may seem insignificant when compared to the millions of opium addicts this trade created. http://www.academia.edu/1444383/The_...m_1764_to_1825 Click here to view the whole thread at www.sammyboy.com. |
