When I lived in Thailand, the withdrawal limits of the ATMs is 20k - 25k THB (Bangkok Bank can withdraw 25k THB) per withdrawal, maximum 3 withdrawals per day. Unless the regulation / situation changed now. The withdrawal limits of the ATMs can usually last me a few weeks. So 1 time withdrawal, use the cash for a few weeks. Bigger amount spendings, usually can charge to credit cards.

Withdrawal from credit cards is 1 of the most expensive!! The upfront cash advance fee per withdrawal, and then revolving interest start calculating immediately!!! If I'm not wrong, sillypore's credit card revolving interest rate is 24% per annum, charged on daily basis (means Saturday & Sunday, u lan-lan have 2 incur interest charges even if u wanna make payment ASAP).

If I do withdrawal from my company's credit card(s) without my CFO's or CEO's approval, or if they come to know I do it on my personal credit card, I'd better prepare a written report that can convince them. Otherwise, I'll be sacked. That's a common policy with many MNCs.

But since so many folks here r complaining about the decimal place difference, THB rising against SGD, etc etc, so I merely suggested my opinion 2 resolve those complains, rather than complain that much, yet no action, ie. NATO. NATO is not going 2 solve the problem / unhappiness. Take action to resolve it! I'm not saying dun share intel or info here, I'm oso sharing mine.

I think many folks here should be matured / responsible enuf 2 know their financial situation, and what they can / cannot do about it, how to manage it. For those who cannot, all I can say is they are not matured / responsible enuf!

So u prefer driving / taking taxis & get stuck in traffic jams? Maybe u enjoy being in the jam, reach office late, then tell your boss it's becos of bad traffic. Got excuse 2 eat snake. Wat r u gonna do wif your time in the traffic jam? Look at the scenery, on the same route, every working day?

The route between the mrt station to my office, by bus vs taxi, difference is less than 10 mins. In fact, taxi more troublesome, gotta turn here & there.

I avoid / skip the jam, I can wake up later everyday, more time for morning bonk, reach office fresh & good mood, etc etc. U get stuck in traffic jam, let's see how fresh u are, how good your mood is, how frustrated u are, how good your temper gonna be.

If u look at it from another point of view, time is $$, I'm saving (buying) time. With more time, I can do more productive things, make more $$, directly or indirectly, etc. And it's done happily, in good mood, smooth sailing / travel / commuting.

Whether I withdraw from ATM, or change currency in Thailand, it's still through the banks. I'm not using sillypore bank, neither am I paid nor getting my salary in sillypore. If, for the sake of not changing currency via the banks, book an air ticket to go change currency at retail $$ changer, tat's going 2 be a bigger joke!!

yes according to 84gunner those who cannot or don't want to open Thai bank account when chionging in Thailand are deemed to be immature, not responsible enough and most importantly have cash flow problem.
