By default, we can only stay in China for 15 days without VISA.

Bros, if you wanna extend your stay in beijing even if it's a last minute (say on the 15th day) thingy, simply pay a visit to their "Exit & Entry..." centre (pun intended ). It's like our Immigration & Custom Authority in SG.

Take a cab and tell the driver it's the place to "make passports", they should know. Need a photo, which you can take over there. Cost is 160rmb which you pay when you collect your passport 5 working days later. You can get a "Tourist Visa" extension for extra 30-days. Consecutively you can extend twice in a row, which adds up to 15+30+30 days in China WITHOUT any need for VISA application in Singapore prior to the trip.

Just complete a visa application form gotten from the counter & leave your passport with them for 5 days. If you do not stay in those 5-star hotels, you need to also get a "residential certification" from your hotel (a paper stating that you stay there, name + your passport# + stamped). Otherwise, they can easily check online if you are indeed staying in that 5-star hotel, in which case you just need a photo and a passport (you can't cheat as they check online immediately over the counter).

If you don't stay in hotels, you need to get that "residential certification" by reporting to a local police station (FOC) where you're staying - this part is a little more tricky as you need the "owner" of the house you're staying to accompany you to the police station and produce proofs that he/she owns the house and allow you to stay there. In fact, by law you need to report to the police station within 48 hours to register your stay at people's house. I got warning as I register only on my 15th day visit in China, but just claim that you were staying in hotel before that, blah blah.

So no need for visa-runs to Hong kong/macau...

Even if you over-stay, you simply visit the above and pay fines...

It's been a long time since I visit SBF....hehehe....
