Remember that Rafa had to make some tough decisions in this game; most importantly, to switch Glen to the left and withdraw Mascher to the right. I think the problem was the second one, not the first. Mascher did an OK job on Simao but this meant we did not control midfield and stop Atletico passing. They were very dangerous and we played to stop them, rather than to overwhelm them, for fear of counter attacks. That's why second half, we did not control the game.

thou we aren't fully deserved to go thru, but still disappointed to go out on an extra-time away goal and oso the fact tat we had to play our match in spain after such a long journey by land...

so our season has "officially" ended...
time to look forward to new owners, new players and new season... (of cos there're plenty of people would want a new manager)
and of cos the WC in 6-weeks time...

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

came across a post by a liverpool fan abt Jose Mourinho...

"I was one of those courting Mourinho, but I've had a moment of clarity and I think it would be a big mistake. This arrogant jerk uses the word, "I" when talking about wins, but uses the word, "we" or even, "they" when talking about losses. Remember the Swedish referee who was forced to quit the game? Remember the shooshing of the Liverpool supporters? Remember the "voyeur" comments about Wenger? Remember the game he was banned from and how it became all about his assistant with the woolen cap and earpiece? There were rumours of match fixing at Porto. Chelsea became the most hated team in Europe. And now all the headlines are not about Inter, or their keeper, or their heroic defending. No, every headline is about "The Special One" and his mission. I, for one, do not want us to be a stepping stone in this nasty piece of work's career. I do not want to see every headline be about our manager. Jose is a superb manager, no doubt, but he is bigger than every club he manages and that is not the way we operate. The only time I've ever bought a shirt with the manager's name on the back was when we had a player-manager. I just don't know if we should sell our soul to the devil to win at all costs. I'd rather do it with class-Guardiola style"

agree...!!

My thoughts exactly.

Saw the way Mourinho celebrated at the Nou Camp at the final whistle? Total lack of class. Unlike Rafa.

Unfortunately, most will not appreciate the work our Spanish manager has done, and how he has been undermined by almost everyone - the yanks, the media, ex-players who have won nothing and done zilch as managers and can't keep their mouths shut, ignoramous fans who turn on their own - until he is forced out.

Well said, bro, and Rafa could be off, if recent reports/rumours about Juventus are to be believed.

Rafa drops fresh quit hint

Quote:
Benitez again hints at departure
By Soccernet staff

Rafael Benitez has cast further doubt on his chances of remaining at Liverpool ahead of Sunday's potential title-decider against Chelsea.

Rafael Benitez wants to be given funds to rebuild his squad

• Benitez edging closer to exit
• Reina: Liverpool's tank empty
• Papers: Torres absence may decide title

Widespread speculation on Friday and Saturday suggested Benitez was on the verge of confirming his move to Juventus after Liverpool's Europa League exit, and he appeared to hint at an imminent move when he said: "Hopefully I will still be here on Sunday against Chelsea."

Benitez signed a new five-year contract last year, but has now likened his current situation to 2004, when he walked out of Valencia after the club failed to sign the players he requested.

"I decided to sign an extension because the squad was good and the money could be there," Benitez said. "At the end, things changed.

"We've had a bad season and hopefully things will be different in the future, but at the moment I can't talk about the future because I don't know what's going on.

"It's not a question of money. I said no to massive offers. I decided to stay under some conditions which have changed."

He added: "I left Valencia because the conditions changed."

Benitez did hint, however, that he could remain if there is a change of ownership.

"The players share the same frustrations," he said. "I know how they feel because I've been talking to them all season. The season has not been good. That is clear. We know why and what has to change."
I think after tonight's match, the answer will be clearer. Most probably,he is waiting for the Club to fire him,so that he can get a hugh amount of compensation as he is just into his new contract.

Of course, liverfool will lose today.. just to make sure ManU doesnot overtake them. They have played such a negative game all this year, no wonder if they would lose today (tat too delibrately). The best thing that wud happn to the club now is Rafass leaving...

Rafa singing "All my bags are packed I'm ready to go. There is one place I should go. I'm leaving on a jet plane. Turin here I come again. Leaving on a jet plane. I know I'm never be back again."
