Below are a few basic tips to safeguard yourself:

1. Do not ever post your real face in the profile.
Reason: They'll know your face but do you know them?

2. Do not give out your local registered mobile.
Reason: They may threaten to post photos (extracted from WhatsApp, Telegram, LINE, WeChat) of you and your family online to shame you.

3. Look out for common signs of scams.
Examples: Purchase of Google Play/Razer gift cards, deals which look too promising to be true etc.

All these bearing in mind flouting of safe-distancing measures will also result in heavy penalties.

You may end up getting a slap-in-the-face although a crime has been committed (at your expense).

Tread with caution, brothers

Note: If you ever get caught by such a scammer and landed up in 7-Eleven,
Buy yourself the biggest cup of Slurpee to reward yourself for saving at least $100.

Those coffee shop are not legit type and most of the time they don't use real pic.
But if u are adventurous enough, there is still chance u find good one. Thats my experience. Cheers

The scammers are also getting smarter. Eventually, they want to get hold of "assets" of value - $$$ (obvious) , phone number, etc.

My recent encounter was one that seem quite legit - posted pictures seem quite legit - not excessive beautiful kind of gal. When asked for location, posted a legit condo location.

Then, after queries done. I usually apply 2 questions to weed out scammers.

1) I only pay by cash upon meet up, ok?
2) I only communicate by texting, I don't pick up calls, ok?

Sometimes, for some scammers, they will still reply to (1) that yeah pay after deed. But so far, by the time come to 2nd questions, scammers will block me or no answer.
