First of all, the impose of VEP is a very good move to curb things like property prices. The only thing limbeh boh song is where is the money channeled to. Anyway, we are living in a country where there is no freedom of speech and a place managed by pirates in suits, ties and limousines. If I list out I will be burned alive. So I fully agree with one chiongster. Not happy then emigrate to Aus New Zealand HK Dubai etc.

I like the idea of hudud where thieves are chopped off limbs. Look at cities like Dubai. Security guards can comfortably pull 2 large trollies of cash through and flow to ATM Machines and Banks without physically showing the weapons. Try do that over Bolahland.

Our prices here skyrocketed and we are suffering becoz many ppl for northern states also rent a place here and commute daily via any form of transport. And I have to hire staffs who are too damn lousy because the majority who works here (normal jobs) are those who tried applying jobs at Sillypore but due to lack of education or experience cant get to secure a place there.

Knn. I ended up hiring one drug addict and underage smoker. Aged 17 but try to show he is an adult.

Tips should be given for good service or customer satisfaction. But some masseuse especially the PRC like as if take it for granted.

Latest news report from source said that the msia highway authority commented that the increase in the custom toll to rm16.50 will not affect the low-income group of msians therefore the toll charges will most likely remain unchanged.

This is because the large number daily users on motorcycles were not charged the toll at the CIQ, and majority of vehicles using the Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL) expressway and its inner ring roads are johorians and were also not charged.

Therefore it only affects vehicles travelling between Msia & spore. Probably it assumed that those people who owned a car and travel to spore frequently should have the financial ability to afford the new toll charge.

Msia side have to look into the interest of the majority of msian vehicle users which do not use the causeway first and not the minority group.

Under the new toll rates, it has very little increase in the cost of public transport.

The costs for public using taxis and bus only increased by small amount for each passenger per month therefore it is still very affordable.

Msia side also looking into more public bus fetching msia workers to spore for work so that there will not be a need for them to use their car to travel to spore and this will also reduce the congestion at the causeway.

On surface it is quite true the car owner is much richer than the motorcyclist, but not everyone. If the intention is to reduce the traffic jam, let be it. Hope it was not to take revenge on SG side VEP increase. It is good to hear that public transport will be improved? we shall wait and see.

Msia side have commented that estimated about 180,000 vehicles use the Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL) every day, but only 60,000 of them crossed the Johor Causeway.

And out of that 60,000 vehicles, only 8,000 are Malaysian-registered vehicles, while the rest were registered in Singapore. So the overall impact of the new toll rates to Malaysian motorists is minimal.

As for the other 52000 spore register vehicle (msian owner) should not be affected so badly because if they can afford to drive spore car, what is rm16.50 to them.

Msia side also said CIQ users who felt that they were unfairly charged because they did not use the EDL should understand that the toll collection was meant to finance the maintenance of all roads linked to the CIQ Complex.

I know because a few of my neighbours' houses are rented to outstation Malaysians ( from Batu Pahat, Segamat, Muar, Malacca, KL, PJ, Ipoh, Alor Star, Penang, etc, etc, .... ) who travel to work by motorbikes but have Proton or Toyota cars parked in the garages ...

Drastic Causeway toll hike will hurt businesses, say S'pore and Malaysia chambers

Two business chambers representing companies in Malaysia and Singapore have issued a joint statement warning that "drastic increases" in Causeway charges will have a detrimental economic impact.

Here is the joint press statement released today by Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) and the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM):

Singapore and Malaysia Chinese Chambers urge governments of both countries to work closely to resolve hike in Causeway transport charges

The two recent measures imposed by the Malaysia and Singapore Governments to significantly increase toll charges and Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) fees have sparked an outcry among the public. These measures also had great impact to business, tourism, logistics and transportation, amongst others. In view of the seriousness of the situation, Dato' Lim Kok Cheong, President of the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) and Mr Thomas Chua, President of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) convened a joint meeting today at Batu Pahat, Johor to solicit inputs and feedback from members so that both Chambers could then submit the relevant views and feedback for consideration of their respective Governments in the hope that this issue could be resolved quickly.

Both ACCCIM and SCCCI understand the rationale that the governments of Malaysia and Singapore impose Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) fees and toll charges in the interests of road maintenance, as well as traffic conditions and safety. However, the hikes in charges should not be made too drastically or hastily. It should be made with coordination among relevant authorities, and after an extensive study has been made on the likely impact to alleviate the burden on various parties.

Although the increase in the Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) fee and toll charges will increase Government revenue, reduce vehicular flow and traffic congestion, these drastic increases could deal a big blow to businesses of both countries, especially the transportation industry, tourism, restaurants, hotels, retail business, manufacturing etc. It would also affect the industrial and business development. At the same time, these drastic increases will have a domino effect on the prices of consumer goods, add to the burden of people, and have a definite impact on their consumption ability.

From our understanding, there are currently many Malaysians working in Singapore with Permanent Resident status who live in Johor Bahru area and commute to and from Singapore and Johor Bahru to work. Malaysians working in Singapore would be badly hit since they now need to pay increased two-way toll charges to the Malaysian government. This increases their burden as well as the manpower cost for Singapore companies if transportation costs are factored in.

Both Chambers are of the view that while an adjustment in toll charges and the imposition of Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) fee is acceptable, the charges levied have to be reasonable. Prior to implementing any new measures, we urge both Governments to consult the business community to solicit relevant views and feedback, understand and consider the difficulties encountered by the business community and the general public, and conduct a comprehensive study on the issues concerned before implementing the policies so as to mitigate the overall impact on various sectors.

On the issue of increases in toll charges and Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) fee, both Chambers earnestly urge their respective Governments to enter into a comprehensive study and explore a workable solution for long-term cooperation and mutual benefits so as to create a win-win situation.
