Read the whole thread tonight, kitty. Its sad you went through tough relationships. I went through two myself..1 cheated on me over a bigger sized guy and the other one left me saying she doesnt love me like she used to anymore..after all that, i find love, as much as i hope to refuse to believe is not forever. After going through twice, no more..though i come from christian background myself as well.

after all you have gone through, are you still looking forward to finding one true love? personally the more I read about and see whats happening around me, the less hopefully I become. how do you find strength to hope for someone true after getting hurt again and again?

Honestly, a lil part of me does look fwd to that but ure right abt the being less hopeful overtime, perhaps to the point of being cynical abt it.

I wouldn't say I've the strength to hope, cos inwardly I've become sort of resigned that 'it won't happen to me anyway' and that so-called true love is but an elusive dream. In that sense, anything positive tat happens is a bonus for me.

Where there is no hope, there is no expectation.
Where there is no expectation, there can be no disappointment.

That's how I see it. My own personal thoughts, not necessarily representative f others'
Unless over time I'm shown otherwise, which given my luck, is highly unlikely.

Explains why I tel my friends I keep a spare rm in their houses for me when I'm a old lonely kitty looking for some company. Haha

There are lah. Just dun hang on to the thought that 'it won't happen to me anyway' too tight or else once it happens. You might not realize it soon enough and missing the boat altogether.

Can one....just open your ears, eyes and most importantly, your heart.

Erh... Well... In my case, I think I'm effectively locking up my heart, throw e key away and seal e door shut. For good.
They say 'once bitten twice shy' I've been bitten more than once... Beyond shy Liao...
Missing e boat ain't so bad an idea after all.. Some people have chosen to do that for various reasons- social status, wealth, career, duty, religion...

I only do so to protect my kitty heart

haha. ya. no hope, no expectation and thus, no more heartbreaking moments. I don't have expectations for others except for myself.

I will live to my fullest and set expectations only for myself. I'm afterall the only one I can control, at least 99.9% of the time.

actually it's not really possible to tell if people are true. the only time they can possibly show they are true is when we're not around which we can't see also. if we check on them, it just proves the trust is not there. back to square one altogether.

being humans, it's only right to hope. hmm, I'm actually planning to stay in the old folks' home when I'm old. lol, don't expect even my friends to take care of me.

as for me, nay..I'm jus not there. hopefully i will like to add "yet" but like what kitty said, locking up the heart is to prevent further disappointments.
