In singapore, with the hectic work life, and generally - most singaporeans are only free at night in this boring small town, we do not have much choices left other than supper/clubbing/pubbing to socialise and really let our hair down.

If you really meant well to advise and caution against a wreckless life style, then I think the insensitivity of your words has just done the opposite.
