This would have been a better option. It still showed that Rafa still don't understand how the top 3 teams play.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Sigh... More American crap.

Updated: March 28, 2008
Gillett reveals Hicks partnership is 'unworkable' Soccernet

Liverpool owner George Gillett Jr, has revealed that his partnership with co-owner Tom Hicks has become 'unworkable'.

The American claims that the partnership has been under strain 'for some time' in an interview given to ESPN affiliate radio station The Fan 590 in Canada and that Hicks' refusal to sell his stake in the club led to the Gillett family receiving death threats.

Gillett also revealed that he made an offer to sell his own stake to DIC, but the deal fell through.

'This partnership [with Hicks] has been unworkable for some time,' he said.

'We gave our partner a long period of time to try to make arrangements to buy us out. We didn't put pressure on him but he ultimately did not get to the finishing line.

'Because of the things he said, the fans' reaction has been so negative to him that if we sold to him it has been made untenable for us.

'He threatened to block me selling to Dubai - that was certainly one of the things that made the fans upset.'

'Lord knows DIC have the means with the oil prices going up every day that money was not even an issue,' he said. 'I think they would have been very responsible owners. But making that not possible or difficult didn't endear [Hicks] to the fans.'

Listen to the full interview with George Gillett here.

Gillett also revealed how the number of e-mails he has received, have been directed mainly at Hicks. 'We get as many as 2,000 emails a week,' he said. 'Ninety five per cent of them have been directed at some of the comments made by my partner.'

'The fans don't want him to have even one share of my stake in the club, based on what they are sending to me. As a result of that we have received many phone calls in the middle of the night threatening our lives, death threats. A number came to the office and my son, Foster, and daughter-in-law, Lauren, have received them.'

Gillett did not reveal what he planned to do with his half share of Liverpool now, but said there were 'pieces on the chess board moving'.

'What I do know is that the fans and the fabled history of this club deserves better, and we are going to do whatever we can to prove that,' he said.

I totally agreed wif u.
Just let DIC take over Liverpool FC & all the problem which previously was happening will not happen.
Rafa will also have the budget to get one or two more world class players to mount for the assault of the EPL title next season.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Updated from soccernet (dated : 30th March 2008)

Parry wants quick end to Reds wrangle

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry believes the Reds' ownership saga is coming 'to a head' and has called on the club's American co-owners to find a solution as quickly as possible.

George Gillett revealed in an interview this week that his relationship with Tom Hicks had long since broken down, and Parry admits that he sees no way in which they can carry on as a partnership.

With Dubai International Capital reportedly keen to launch a full takeover of the Anfield club, Hicks has so far refused to do business unless he can retain a controlling share, while Gillett appears more amenable - claiming DIC would be 'responsible' owners.

But whatever happens, Parry has called for matters to move quickly.

'I think it brings it to a head - clearly for the good of the club from where I sit,' he told BBC Radio Five Live's Sportsweek programme.

'The hope will be that it's resolved quickly now, it's dragged on for long enough and the ideal would be to move to as speedy a resolution as possible.'

Parry added: 'All things are possible at the moment - somebody's got to sell, that's clear. If they're not able to co-exist then there needs to be a solution where one buys and one sells, or both sell.

'There aren't too many other possibilities but it's pretty clear that to carry on with the status quo is going to be extremely difficult.'

final score Liverpool 1-0.
not a very convincing performance even though we won.
still the same,we just cannot seem to kill off an oponent when we are dominating.
and always make us,sweat to the end.

Well, at least now there's a five point gap and so the team can concentrate on the CL matches against Arsenal

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Not very convincing win over the Toffees but a win is a win,now there is a 5 pts gap between Liverpool & Everton.

Liverpool will at least have some momentum going to the Emirates Stadium & take on the Gunners.
