I guess you live near to xujiahui (徐家汇), if around pang yu road (番禺路), so must be very closed to Crown Plaza Holiday Inn.

I am sure by now you should have known places like, xintiandi (新天地), tongren road (铜仁路), maoming south road (茂名南路) and of course the hengshan road (衡山路), where most of the pub and bar located.
Unfortunately, I don know a single pub/bar in this area to recommend you.

I don't know any trick as well to wooo girls, however I think if you are closed to Mao Zedong (毛泽东) or Abraham Lincoln, I am sure not difficult for you to know them.

Try Fuzhou lu besides Raffles city...the stretch of road sells staionary to books...The foreign book store is there as well as the 上海书城...Shanghai book city...u get 7 storeys of books...for english books..I think its located on the 6th floor....

another one would be those peddlers that sometimes station outside the MRT with their tricycle...but english books are limited....

There is another book store at the junction of Changle lu and Xiangyang lu called Garden Books and coffee....u can give it a shot there too...
