I was expecting to pay $20 but the auntie at the counter says $30.

I still wonder if its the auntie who pocketed the extra $10... just a few days before that night, I was there in the day time and only paid $20, as per norm.
Hi bro I think is the different room. 81 got 2 type of room. One type is $20 which is the standard room & the other is $30. I got 1 time also blur when the staff ask for $30 instead of $20. Luckily manage to switch to $20. I was at lavender 81. Then I found out there are 2 type of room.

i think H81 got standard, deluxe and superior rooms but it depends on the branch (some only have 2 types, etc).... normally for transit bookings, they will give the smallest room type available at that branch. when those are full, they will allocate the next room type and it may costs $10 extra.... for some H81, they actually give members a "free upgrade" so don't need to pay extra.... not sure if this applies to all branches but if you are a member, please remember to ask laa
I have stayed at the Scarlet boutique hotel twice in the past 2 years & both stays have been extremely satisfying. Prices are more competitive than Majestic & 1929 too. he first time I stayed in a deluxe room, can't remember the price I paid. Everything was all suede & leather & luxurious. The room was above my expectations. Plenty of good food at the nearby Maxwell market within 5 minutes walking distance too. Actually it's just 3 mins away but I like to take my time walking.
Needless to say, since it is more of a couples hotel, it sets the mood & me & my S.O. were like rabbits. I think we had sex about 8 times over the 2D1N stay. 69, CIM, anal (3 times!!!). We went during the weekday so during the evening it was pretty quiet at the small outdoor area with the jaccuzzi. S.O. was wearing her bikini, I was wearing just shorts, 1 thing lead to another & we stated kissing, fondling. There was pulling of strings & her bikini bottom came off effortlessly. I had to take her there, from bottom, doggy style.
The 2nd time, we had a HUGE free upgrade to a room with balcony. Imagine the shock on my face when the receptionist told us when we were checking in. The room was smashing!!! Hotel 81 (Chinatown) also charges SGD$30 / 2 hours as their transit rate. Maybe try to avoid that hotel because I see very often genuine tourists staying there. Many of them come with tour groups so it does not feel discreet at all & I guess that is why they charge a premium. Rooms are really in demand.
Hotel 81 (Bugis) charges SGD$20 / 2 hours which I think is good value considering it is new. I like the shower stalls with clear glass / frosted glass. S.O. gave me a preview as she was cleaning up. Naumi hotel is freaking expensive loh. Scarlet is the most affordable among the boutique hotels I know. Don't know whether it give the best rooms & experience or not. Anyway me just booked a room at New Majestic Hotel. Will take lots of pictures & some videos for memories. Maybe after this, will try 1929 or Naumi.
If got even more money, would like to travel to places like Japan or Taiwan to try out their "love hotels". I think it is the same thing as boutique hotels, just that they give it a different term.

Give Lavender branches a miss, always must wait long time. And down there quite a lot of small companies and shops, so human traffic is high. Not very safe.
The H81 @ L18 is my preferred. Got rooms with all-round mirrors, all sides.

I think the only benefit it has as their member is that we do not need to put deposit... Which is better cause pretty lazy to wait for them to give you paper to sign and collect back deposit, etc..
