The criteria that you need to fulfill are spelt out in the guidelines below:

With effect from 26 Jun 06, any foot-reflexologist, masseuse or therapist who is working or will be working in a Cat II massage establishment must undergo and pass a mandatory medical screening before they can be allowed to work in the massage establishment. Once the employees have passed their medical screening, the licensee must then apply for their approval to work in his establishment using the medical screening number assigned by DSC Clinic. Please see attached circular for more information on the medical screening and bring along a copy of the circular when going for the test at DSC Clinic.

The approval for a foot-reflexologist, masseuse or therapist to work in any massage establishment is only valid for a period of one year. Licensees are required to renew their employees� approval to work by sending them for an annual medical screening when notified by the Licensing Officer. The validity period of the approval is tagged to the expiry date of the medical screening result. For application of new employee, he/she is required to retake and pass their medical health screening if the validity of the medical screening result is less than 3 months.

Only a foot-reflexologist, masseuse or therapist who is working or will be working in a Cat II massage establishment is required to undergo and pass a mandatory medical screening before they can be allowed to work in the massage establishment.

With effect from 14 September 2009, new and existing massage workers with physical disabilities, such as mobility issues, hearing/vision problems, or being wheelchair bounded, would be exempted from the Masseuse Screening Programme (including the STI talk).

Such workers would need to obtain a certification letter from any GP clinic in Singapore, stating their physical impairment(s). The letter of certification shall be submitted together with a copy of the worker�s identification document (i.e. a photocopy of the NRIC/MOM work pass) by fax or post to the following address:

Upon receipt of the certification letter, DSC Clinic would provide the worker with a unique medical screening number to be used for the online application for the approval of the Licensing Officer for an employee to work in a licensed massage establishment.

For existing workers, an approval letter to work in a licensed massage establishment, without the need to undergo and pass the annual medical screening, would be issued by the Police Licensing Division to their employees.
