Re: Chelsea FC - Supporters' Rally
SIDWELL SETTLING IN
Chelsea man-of-the-match Steve Sidwell has drawn the curtain on Saturday's defeat at Rangers, and is pleased with how he's adapting to a new system. The former Reading man had plenty of reasons to be pleased with his own performance, and that is something he acknowledges. 'I was pleased with how it went today. The games that have gone by I've just done OK, you could have put anyone in there and they would have done the same job, but I wanted to show the boss that I can stand out,' he said. 'He's got confidence in putting me into games and throwing me in at the deep end, so it was nice for me to get a good performance under my belt, and hopefully it will plant a seed in his memory.' Sidwell also revealed exclusively to Chelsea TV the differenced between playing in a 4-4-2 and a 4-3-3. 'Just positioning really, obviously when you play 4-4-2 in midfield obviously you're used to just you and a partner in there but when you go 4-3-3 it's all about positioning and interchanging with positions so that's been the biggest thing I've had to get to grips with,' he told the cameras. 'It's taking it time and so the quicker I can get use to it and show the boss that I'm capable and confident that I'm capable of doing it then the better it is for me. 'Obviously 4-4-2 for me personally is what I've grown up on so to come into it is not a problem. For me it 4-3-3, you know, the way the boss wants to play.'

Re: Chelsea FC - Supporters' Rally
ARMANI DEAL ANNOUNCED
Chelsea Football Club and Giorgio Armani SPA have entered a three year agreement for the team's new official suit and other formal wear. Giorgio Armani said: 'Today at a club like Chelsea the players are international role models and need to look the part. They have to show an acute combination of mental and physical discipline which makes them genuinely heroic. That's why designers like to work with them - we get the chance to dress heroes.' The team will be equipped with a single-breasted, two-button navy blue crease resistant lightweight wool gabardine suit, with flat-front, straight-legged trousers and a fitted jacket with pronounced 'Roman' shoulder line. These will be worn with pale blue cotton shirts from the Armani Napoli range. Players will also get a new club tie, a navy blue polo shirt which can be worn as an alternative to shirt and tie, a dark brown mock croc belt and brown suede half boots. The wardrobe is completed by a classic single-breasted knee-length three button cashmere coat, and a single-breasted knee-length nylon raincoat, both in navy blue. The key to the relationship was Armani's understanding of the players' needs as athletes as well as the need to look stylish. The good news for fans is that they will be able to buy a replica of the new look from Emporio Armani stores throughout England - the only difference between the in-store garments and those that will see action at Stamford Bridge is that the players' jackets will feature the 'lion rampant' on the breast pocket. The suits will be worn by the entire squad for the first time against Manchester United in the FA Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday.

Re: Chelsea FC - Supporters' Rally
Mourinho told he must deliver Champions League for Chelsea
LONDON (AFP) - Jose Mourinho knows he must deliver the Champions League to satisfy his Chelsea bosses after chief executive Peter Kenyon outlined the club's grand ambitions. Mourinho has won two Premiership titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups during his three-year reign at Stamford Bridge, but even that impressive haul is not enough to totally satisfy billionaire owner Roman Abramovich. The Champions League remains the holy grail for the Blues' hierarchy and Kenyon admitted success in Europe's elite competition was essential to their plans to become the world's biggest club. "I think it (the European Cup) is one of the hardest trophies to pick up and to fulfil our ambitions as a world club you have to win the Champions League," Kenyon told The Times. "It doesn't all rest on that this season, that's not what it's about, but what we've said is you have to win trophies on a regular basis. "You have to win the Premier League and Champions League more than once to reach those heights of being truly recognised as a world club and we're well equipped." Andriy Shevchenko and Michael Ballack were signed last year to aid Chelsea's attempt to conquer Europe, but neither player lived up to their illustrious reputation. Shevchenko has been linked with a move back to AC Milan, while Ballack has attracted interest from Real Madrid. But Kenyon insists they will stay because the best is still to come from both. "On the Andriy and Michael situation, we signed them for four years and we've definitely got the best to come from those two players, which is great news," he said. After a tumultuous campaign that was scarred by Mourinho's clashes with Abramovich over transfer policy, Kenyon is confident peace has broken out in the corridors of power. He added: "I think it's critically important Jose's still here and I think it comes off a season when we got to a stage where nobody thought that Jose would be here apart from the people inside the club." more of an ultimatum than told....

Re: Chelsea FC - Supporters' Rally
All SUIT UP IN ARMANI
Chelsea Football Club has called on the legendary designer Giorgio Armani for a double assignment: to create the club's new official suits and to refurbish a key area of Stamford Bridge. As the entire first team squad is pictured in their new official club suits for the first time today (Friday, August 3) it can also be revealed that Giorgio Armani has designed a new look for the club's Directors' Suite at Stamford Bridge, which will now be called the 'Armani Lounge'. The three-year partnership announced earlier this week between London's most successful club and the legendary designer was a natural one. His clothes are a personal preference for manager José Mourinho and several players, which also made Armani/Casa's Interior Design Service the perfect choice for the new Directors' Suite at Stamford Bridge. Giorgio Armani said: 'Under José Mourinho, Chelsea FC has become known the world over for the quality of its game and the internationalism of its players, who have become sporting icons. They inspire us through their combination of mental and physical discipline, which makes them genuinely heroic. On this occasion it is also an honour to have collaborated on a new look for the Directors' Suite at what is certainly one of England's most historic football grounds. Giorgio Armani continued: 'José has been a longtime enthusiast for my designs and was personally involved in reviewing all of the sketches and fabrics. Attention to detail was crucial in creating the right combination. Mourinho said: 'Mr Armani wanted to adopt a fresh approach to our suits and we were very comfortable with that as we knew he would respect our needs as footballers, but in so doing create a great look. We are delighted to be working with him.' The team's new official off-field wardrobe comprises a single-breasted, two-button navy blue crease resistant lightweight wool gabardine suit, with flat-front, straight-legged trousers and a fitted jacket with pronounced 'Roman' shoulder line. These will be worn with pale blue cotton shirts from the Armani Napoli range. Players will also get a new club tie, a navy blue polo shirt, which can be worn as an alternative to shirt and tie, a dark brown mock croc belt and brown suede half boots. The wardrobe is completed with a classic single-breasted knee-length three button cashmere coat, and a single-breasted knee-length nylon raincoat, both in navy blue. The players and officials will be dressed identically with the Chelsea 'lion rampant' on jacket pockets, although in keeping with the tradition required of Premier League managers to survive the elements Mourinho and four other staff will have a second suit in a heavier fabric and a longer length overcoat, to keep them both warm but stylish on the bench. The good news for fans is that they will be able to buy a replica of the new look from Emporio Armani stores throughout England - the only difference between the in-store garments and those that will see action at Stamford Bridge is that the players' jackets will feature the 'lion rampant' on the breast pocket . The suits will be worn by the entire squad for the first time against Manchester United in the FA Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday. As part of this new relationship, Chelsea and Giorgio Armani have committed themselves to raise funds for the club's Official National Charity Partner, CLIC Sargent, a leading cancer charity for children, through an annual event.
