Firstly, I would like to thank my father and my mother for bringing me into this world, otherwise I will not be able to cheong in CP and make so many new friends leh… Then I would like to thank my wives and children, both known and unknown, whom without their support I would not be able to travel to CP freely with their blessings in return for the promise of much potential business and wealth from my many trips there….hehehehe… I also wish to thank all my teachers, past, present and future, for without them I would not be able to communicate with all the MMs, in all the different dialects and innuendos, in CP and everywhere else hor… Special thanks must also go to the many new friends I make while in CP and Sland, specially for the opportunity to lust after all the MMs they bring into my life. I never fail to wonder how come they always seem to get the pretty ones while I end up with those that look like dogs- bulldogs to be specific…..hiaz, such is life but never mind! A special word of thanks must go to Botarbolampar for all the free supply of CDs (but no MMs); old wise-crank Coolmanks for his many theories on how to bonk a pretty MM without breaking the sperm bank; Speedray for acting drunk so that he can auto-roam every MM that takes his fancy; Joe90 for the many MMs we swapped and shared for which our lips are forever sealed (for now anyway); Ringo for the many stories we shared and mused over lunches and dinners…..sorry if I missed out the others which shall remain anonymous for the time being.  I had a wonderful time and I hope to catch up with you guys again very soon…. Oh, I nearly forgot…. Special thanks must also go to my dog, Bingo, who gave me faith and hope with the saying, “Every dog has his day…… but only in CP” lah!

It has been quite long time didn't contribute to this thread... Yesterday brought few friends shopping and buy mobile number. Every time whenever there is a newbie to china, have to repeat the same explanation... To the benefits of newbie, here you go... About china mobile phone operators & number There are two operators in china, CMCC and Unicom. CMCC = 移動, YiDong Unicom = 聯通, LianTong CMCC is like singtel in sillypore or maxis in malaisiya, that occupies the major market share; Unicom is like m1 or digi, that occupies the minor market share. All the china mobile number starts with "13" and the total is 11 digits, like 13xxxxxxxxx. In sillypore, you got no way to distinguish the mobile number belongs to which operator, but china is working as the similar way as malaisiya, where you can recognize the number by operator. This determines by the 3rd digit of the phone number: Unicom = 130, 131, 132, 133 CMCC = 134, 135, 136, 137, 138, 139. Last year that was a new number launched, 158 & 159, both belong to CMCC. Unicom also launched a new 15 number, 150. Only Unicom has CDMA and the numbers are started with 133 or 150. The rest of number all GSM (CMCC does not have CDMA). Heard China is now testing on the 3G, and the reserved number 3G number is 157, 188 & 189. But have not came across to these number before, so not sure... About the phone card There are 3 types of phone card in china, local city card, china nation wide, and global wide. The example of the local city card is like 大眾卡 (by YiDong), where you can only use it within the city; and if you bring the card out of the city, it will either not functioning or you need to activate the nation wide feature, the activation in china is called 開通. The most common nation wide card is 神州行 (by YiDong also, advertisement says there are 200 millions people using this card!) or 動感地帶, where you can use it anywhere within china. However, if you bring the above two cards out of china, they will not functioning. If you want to stay in touch with MM more conveniently, you need to buy 全球通. But that one is quite costly, one SMS is RMB1.99 from overseas to china...
