Re: My life experience in Changi Prison (Cluster B)
To add on to what bro HokkienPeng has mentioned above, 24 strokes is the maximum strokes that will be taken by the inmate regardless of the total number of stroke in all the charges against him. For example : if the sentence passed down is 1st charge : 10 years 24 strokes and 2nd charge : 8 years 12 strokes, only the jail term is add on (if the judge says sentence runs consecutively), number of strokes remain at maximum of 24.

Nope. All at 1 go unless the inmate half way through the rotan fainted out. But must be certified by the doctor present that the caning cannot continue, then the balance strokes will have to be done on another day.

Quote:
Sections 325 to 332 of the Criminal Procedure Code lay down the procedures governing caning, including: A convicted male criminal who is between the ages of 18 and 50 and has been certified medically fit by a medical officer may be subjected to judicial caning. He will receive a maximum of 24 strokes of the cane on any one occasion, irrespective of the total number of offences committed. If the offender is under 18 he may receive up to 10 strokes of the cane, but a lighter rattan cane will be used in this case. Boys under the age of 16 may be sentenced to caning only by the High Court and not by district or juvenile courts. The convict will not be caned if he has been sentenced to death. The rattan cane shall not exceed half an inch (1.27 cm) in diameter and 1.2 metres in length. Any male criminal, whether sentenced to caning or not, may also be caned in prison if he breaks prison rules. Minimum strokes of cane is usually from three to six strokes, and the Singapore Criminal Procedure Code lays down that 24 strokes is the maximum that can be ordered. Singaporean law allows caning to be ordered for over 30 offences, including hostage-taking, robbery, gang robbery with murder, drug use, vandalism, and rioting. Caning is also a mandatory punishment for certain offences such as rape, drug trafficking, illegal money-lending, and for visiting foreigners who overstay their visa by more than 90 days, a measure designed to deter illegal immigrant workers.

Re: My life experience in Changi Prison (Cluster B)
I beg to differ. Even with family support, prison emphasize on "first timer" only. If Bro MU fans is not on similar cases or not classified under "Fast Relapse" category then maybe he got chance. Trust me, family support for repeat offenders or fast relapse cases doesn't play a part or rather not relevant.
