I was recently diagnosed with the type 2 disease. I felt quite stupid. Go fl without thinking of the consequences, but its like the whole world has changed.

Very frightened like almost everyone else has it. I was very hopeful about a cure. Read all the news articles. There are glimpses of light, but no cure for some years to come. The virus is cunning and hides in the spine. But, it will be a matter of time before some scientist uncovers a way to coax the virus out of hidding and kill it.

At the same time, I find my relationship runined. I know my gal had quite a few partners before and she was ever raped. Its still difficult to face her. Also find life very fragile. Its really time to work and pay back society in small ways, before we finally rest in peace.

Was quite bored and restless, so did a search on herpes cure and research. There are some interesting developments. One interesting news from wiki says that there are breakthroughs in killing the virus on animal specimens. It looks promising. Herpes simplex virus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Harvard Medical School made a breakthrough, using RNAi. HMS Press Release - Topical treatment wipes out herpes with RNAi This is for sure not a hoax. For the bros hopeful of a cure, it may be on the way. At least must wait for a few years.

Although people always say now no cure, we still ve to hope for the best tomorrow.

Bro,

I also dunno. I wish I did earlier. For some days, I have been trying to come to terms with this virus. I haven't done any blood test yet. GP said the symptoms appear to be herpes. But, I only got blisters on the penis.

Should I go for blood test? GP can't be so inaccurate, rite?

Just to ask the bros here. herpes must be verified by blood test, rite? Are visual symptoms enough to confirm presence of herpes?

Hi, need advice as i am quite confused now.

I had ulcers (quite painful) at the side of my penis and made an appointment with DSC. The doctor there said its likely to be Genital Herpes by looking at the ulcers. They took samples of the inflected area (using a stick with cotton) and the result is negative. I was given anti-viral medicine and cream to apply on and requested to come back 1 mth later.

When I returned (by the way, theres no recurrence of outbreak till now) for the next appt, the doctor suggested for me to take blood test for type 1 and 2 Herpes. He explained to me that if tested positive, this will confirm that i have prior exposure to this virus.

As got an sms today which states that the blood test for both type 1 and 2 is negative. Called the DSC clinic to enquire further, like how come the first visit was diagnosed as Genital Herpes and the nurse in charge tell me that although the blood test shows negative, it may be still possible that i have this virus and she suggested me to make another appt to DSC.

I am now very confused as i thought the blood test will confirm whether I am inflected with Genital Herpes. Though i will be making an appt shortly back to DSC, wonder if any of you is able to advise me if I am inflected with Genital Herpes afterall?
