Both investment tools have their owns strengths and shortcomings. You are like comparing Warren Buffet with Donald Trump. One makes his wealth in stock and one makes his wealth in property.

So my first question is always why do you invest. For me, I am building up a trust fund so that after I die, I could provide for my kids. In reality, it does not make sense for me to stay alive. If I die tomorrow, my insurance will pay for all the outstanding debts of these properties. Alternatively, I can stay alive and pay them off which will take at least 24 more years.

So what is your reason? Second is how much time do you spend on researching and learning? I spent 2 years working as a part-time property agent (after my full-time job) and another 1.5 years driving for Uber. Both means allow me to know the property market better. This is excluding a lot of after working hours reading property laws, regulations, drinking kopi with bankers, lawyers, accountants, property agents and property developers.

I do have some friends who invest in shares and try to convince me to invest too. I am chicken. I cannot afford to lose. The property market is something that I know better and I know I will not lose money.

I agree with the YouTube analysis IF....

1. You are a newbie to property investment and using your personal name as a means of investment. Meaning you buying the property under your name.

2. The EC is your only property investment, you have nothing to diversify your risk.

Oh. I am not only a chicken. I am a miser. I don't stay in the condo that I buy one. Before I was divorced, I stay in an HDB.

After two bankruptcies, I learn to live cheap and save more.
