Then u are there earlier than me. I've only started going Myanmar 7 years ago though I do go every month.

Things have changed but some dont. The man standing at the bridge to collect toll stil exists..

Indeed bro I agree with you bro. Things are slowly improving in Yangon. For the last few months there have been a lot of exhibition by individual countries in Yangon displaying all their products to show to the people in Myanmar. The import license to import cars are cheaper as well compare to 1 year ago before the election. I am amaze myself how fast things developed, as my last trip was only in June. I believe next year, we can start getting roaming as I understand M1 is in talks with the Myanmar government. Hopefully next year onwards they can waive the visa as its too troublesome.

Haha.. the country progresses but dont expect it to change by leaps and bounds.

Already they have signed Telco roaming with China Telecom early this year, until now, not activated.

As for the visa, no hope it will be waived la..they are still military backed government.

hi bro, i"m new on this thread. i was about to go to the embassy at st martins place. is it still necessary to write reasons for going? would you reccommend a travel agent to get the visa?
will be going on the 9th feb. hope can meet up with some ''expats'' there.

Depends on your purpose. If on business and you have a business partner in Myanmar, they can help by issuing an Invitation Letter for you to do your visa.

If on leisure, just state for holiday or go thru any travel agent.

For visa application, the photo must be taken with white background(some officer may insist, some dont)

Just basement already happening.
I stayed in Traders hotel during my last trip to myanmar.

Parkroyal and Traders are good.. but if you like comfy beds, I recommend Grand Kandawyi..

btw, all hotels increased their rates effective 1st Dec to around USD95/nite from USD65/nite. Effect from opening up the economy
