Re: Hanoi
The best way for me so far is to CALL for a taxi wherever you are. Just call and tell them where exactly you are and they will send a taxi to pick you up. The call center people usually can speak english but you will have to pronounce the road name correctly.

Re: Hanoi
That's the best way, but many times, they ask for 5 phut, 5 phut, 5 phut and you keep waiting

Re: Daewoo
Is the Daewoo Karoke still in business? I haven't been there in a couple of years. Anyone been there recently? What's the quality of the girls now?

Re: Daewoo
Dun waste time and money there. For less than half the price and more than double the fun, there are many other places. Basically the girls there are stuck up, rude and think they damn fucking smart (not to mention ugly too!) but that place got next to no business just like a ghost town. So bad that no plain clothes policemen bothers to monitor that place too...

Anyway, if you have money to burn, and want to do some long term investments, then the Japanese/Korean date bars can be quite nice. There is one near Ashima (the one near Vincomm). US50 for entrance fee, bottle same price, no need to tip the girls... the girls are usually uni students and some will speak pretty decent English. However, in those places, you must have patience to hunt, the girls 100% refuse the first time they meet you. Good, they don't "work", Bad, they don't "work", unless of course you wave a lot of USD. But long term, quite nice. Chit chat, arrange to dinner on their off day, go see movie, go back home see DVD... Incidentally, for all bros, the new Relax II is at 36 Quang Trung. Plus, don't know if brothers know this, Sakura II is also around the corner at 36 Truong Han Sieu, which is a small road perpendicular to Quang Trung. Room feels nicer than the original Sakura at Cat Linh, and I feel the girls there nicer too. Convenient for a lazy Sunday, go massa around 5pm, take 2 hour package then go to Relax II to sien with the waitresses there. |

Re: Hanoi
Yes I know. It was always expensive! The girls were always so-so although I got a real stunner there once.
But I won't have the time to go hunting. I'm looking for quick and easy .. cash and carry out :P >Dun waste time and money there. Relax II, yup, seems to be ok so far. The downside is original Relax now really cannot make it. Dung has shipped his better gals to Relax II, and his captain makes sure the gals keep the customers happy. Unlike Relax I, was just there last evening with posted for an after office drinks. Girls real ugly, no service... nothing. Posted and I wonder how long they'll last. |

Re: Hanoi
Hi Bros,
Need some advise as I'm a newbie in Hanoi. Arrive yesterday and will stay for 3 days in Melia Hotel. Any recommendations for good massage joints, pubs or KTV nearby? Can only speak some Viet words, so joints with gals who can speak English or Chinese is essential. Where should I go to stand a chance to "ta-pow"? I heard that Melia is not gal-friendly, can confirm? Would appreciate if bros can share some info. Thanks. |

Re: Xe Taxi
I personally prefer Malinh Taxi or Hanoitourist (Tel 8262626 I think). It's more expensive...in the short run. Because if you ended up like me trying to go to Sofitel at Tay Ho and getting stuck in an f*&kin' jam at Duong Thanh Nien (not to mention a gigantic jam on Yen Phu) and watching the meter jump every 10 seconds, you'd rather pay a little more upfront.
Similarly, try to keep some small change (1k, 2k 5k VND) as the taxi drivers will always say they have no change. Which is bullshit. Total bullshit. When I first went to Hanoi, I let it slide because the amount was ard 1-2k VND which was no big deal. I just came back and the fuckers were trying to tell me they did not have change for 20k. Luckily my Hanoian friend had a few "pleasant" words with the driver and I got my change. They will take out their wallet for show, to show you they have no change. Don't believe it. All their change is in their front pockets. If you "co biet noi tieng viet" tell them to check their front pockets. At least that's what my customers in Hanoi told me. Hope my two pennies helps you out bro. |
