I was in CP for 12 days. June 18-29. The last time I was in CP, it was (May 2015) 13 months ago. Arrived at SZX and took a private car (RMB220.00) direct to CP Swan Lake Hotel (BLK B RMB158.00/Night). Going to CP was actually my girl's idea. Instead of going to Bali, Pattaya or Kuala Lumpur, she suggested CP citing it will be less troublesome for her and cheaper to stay. IMHO - The hotels rates are the cheapest in the world.

Unfortunately, that's the only thing that is cheap in CP now. Most things are even more costly and expensive than before but still affordable compared to back home. Let me put it this way, before the raid, RMB10,000.00 could last you 5-6 nights if you party daily and bring a girl back for ON. Now (Present today), for RMB10K, you can only go 3 nights (Just a rough estimate) Cash Kings don't applies here.

During my 12 days stay, I met 5 guys alternatively and spread out. I was surprised that people still visit CP. While moving around the town centre, I saw mostly locals with their kids in tow. I do not as many carrot-head (冤大头) shopping with a girl like before.

However, if you have your own girl with you to keep you company, RMB10K is a lot and could stretch quite far. All-In including my stay in Swan Lake Hotel and her return tickets (she is based in Shanghai now) I spent about RMB10K for 11 nights. That's for accommodation, food, transportation, 1 night KTV at LongXi, 1 night at a bar near 肥婆烧鹅, movies and footie. Footie alone is RMB2K. I think this is being frugal.

CP nowadays is like Bangkok (miniature one), a bustling place, many shopping places, many food joints and the place is over loaded with hotels. It is now a home base for travellers. Taking advantage of the good transport infrastructure and cheap hotels. CP is still a good place to visit. For whatever reason/s, the food offered, nostalgic, the KTV near-by CP or the various Bars/Pubs.

Food:- (My regular haunts then)

1) 湘村人家: The food is mediocre at best now and service sucks big time.
2) 阿胜/阿良: The food is still the same but prices seem to have risen by 20%
3) 大有利: Same quality but price up a bit. Used to be know 萃华茶餐厅.
4) 金豪一品: Same as before. Food and services. Prices up a bit.
5) 豪记: 虾蟹粥 Gone case! Closed down liao.
6) 梦想鸡煲: Still good.
7) 豪情鸡煲: Also good too.
8) 曼联: Good riddance. I never like the food there but location is great.

There are others to content with and many I am unable to mention because I don't remember their names. If you can survive Bangkok's or KL's street food, then in CP, the street food is much cheaper and good too. During my stay (11-12 days) I had street food, food from the shopping centre and a few restaurant. All are OK.

Transportation around the town 共价 RMB15.00 Yellow Cab. I used electric bicycle many times which cost RMB6-10 per trip. CP/SZX RMB220.00 per Saloon Car. Laundry at the cleaners are still the same, good service and prices remained unchanged since 5 years ago. To was a t-shirt, it is still RMB5.00

In CP, you have to bring your own girl unless you are willing to spend RMB2-3K on a sauna girl for ON services otherwise you will die cock standing there. Due to my minor operation, my doctor advise me not to drink alcohol. As I did not visit the Bars/Pubs along TEH Avenue, hence I do not know about the "Fishing", "ONS" or "Free-Fucks" available there which I have read and heard so much about.

In conclusion; CP is still a nice place to visit less the night life of yesteryears. Partly, I came to CP to watch EURO 2016 and I am still angry that England lost to minnows Iceland whom lost to France 5-2 this morning - WTF!

I do give but very small amount. We have been together since Sep 2010. Occasionally, I will buy some gift. Big and small things. Also, once in a while, she would ask me to help her buy an air ticket from Ctrip. If you have lived in China, like me, you will know what Ctrip is.

She moved to Shanghai because I was based there but now I am back home liao. So, this CP trip, was like, never seen her for 7 months or so. We went to Hong Kong, a day-trip, bought some cosmetics for her, HKD2,300.00, had dim sum and walked around at Sheung Shui.
