Re: All Thailand TCSS / Info / Gatherings / Help Thread.

Just an update.

For those heading to Thailand plse note that immigration procedures have been stepped up since the bombing. Expect long queues and questioning from the officers. Farangs will be questioned in more detailed.

You will be asked things like how long you stay..where you stay..what is the purpose of your visit. Best be direct and concise. Have documents ready is proof is best. This just a suggestion.

Also..avoid carrying a backpack when walking around..high chance you may be spot checked. This also just a suggestion.

Remember that Suvarnabhumi has 2 immigration points..400 m apart. If you find the nearest one is crowded, try heading for next one. Not a sure bet but worth a try.

Nothing to be paranoid about. Let the authorities do their work.

There're 2 schools of thought on this matter.

Some will say a photostat copy of passport is good enough and do not risk losing passport when outside of hotel.

I belong to the other school of thought.
As a foreigner I always bring my passport along with me because I know the useless dirty cops will find an excuse to ask for kopi money if you're sway to bump into them especially road blocks late at night.

If one is not responsible enough to look after his/her own travel document then the only person to blame is yourself.

You are right bro Soi6. Genuine Tourists nothing to fear or be paranoid about.

Immigration checkpoints are on high alert so expect longer wait times.

Police are also searching guesthouses, apartments, hotels and even condos popular with expats. Overstayers suggest to surrender at airport, pay fine go out and come back in again with a clean state. Being caught overstaying and voluntarily surrendering gives 2 huge different results. If getting caught, you will be arrested, locked up in district police station lock-up and transferred to Immigration Detention Centre await deportation.

A copy of passport ID and visa stamp is always good. No identification papers or documents at spot checks can be tricky. Save yourself from unnecessary troubles, save a copy on your smart phone.

If they play dirty, video down the whole conversation. They probably won't do silly things when the video is recording on your smart phone. U are allowed to do so anyway to protect your interests.

One way to beat the queue is to use the VIP Express service
Paying a little bit more for the convenience is very worth it...... often from plane to limousine is only about 15-20 mins including baggage retrieval. I could oredi be in my hotel while others are still in the queue to clear airport immigration.

Of course if you are on a budget then no choice but to queue lor.

Mobile operators told to notify 3.6 million unregistered users before services halted in Business | August 26, 2015 10:16 am

Mobile phone operators were yesterday ordered by the national regulator to notify their 3.6 million prepaid mobile users still not registered to register by end of September before their services are halted.

The regulator’s order came as the deadline for prepaid users will end September 30.

Secretary-general of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) Mr Takorn Tantasith said all unregistered mobile numbers in pre-paid services will be put out of services beginning October 1 if they are not registered.

But before this goes into effect, the NBTC yesterday ordered all mobile operators to notify their unregistered users via text message 30 days before the termination of unregistered numbers begins.

After the deadline, unregistered numbers can only receive calls and dial emergency service numbers, while making normal calls and internet access will be disabled.

He warned that mobile operator which fails to comply to the order will face penalties according to the NBTC regulations.

He said the registration is necessary with regard to national security issues, in the wake of the bombing incident.

Penalties include a 0.1% fine of their annual income for any acts against NBTC’s order, 0.3 % fine for acts from users who are affecting public benefits, and 0.5 % for acts that are considered unfair towards competitors.

Looks like after the Bangkok bomb blast the Thai authorities have no more excuse not to implement this policy after so many donkey years.

Any sim can activate a bomb dun have to be with Thai sim card.

Anyway Thai govt operates like a Fire Fighting team. No fire, all busy licking one another asses, keeping money in pocket, once fire comes, then panic and blaming one another. The sim card registering has been long announced but telcos been delaying all these. The authority and telcos all covering each another asses. If they are serious about it, 1 day dun implement, authority should fine these telcos 1 mil USD per day and lets see how these blood sucking enterprises will do.

Coming back the bombing, again fire fighting team will start to blame CCTVs outdated, faculty, not enough equipment. As if the CCTVs got outdated n faulty the day before bombing.
