Was having a quiet beer at lorong telok Ayer and circular road today and saw circular road was getting closed off.

A massive jam occurred and tempers were getting frayed. Eventually they had the foresight to also close the turnoff into circular road from south bridge road. Everything calmed down after that.

Naturally, I was wondering what event was happening here. A late Halloween celebration or something? So I googled it and this is what I found.

Apparently it will be a 3 month trial of pedestrianising circular road every Friday and Saturday nights between 6pm and 1am.

The article also mentions a couple of motives behind the initiative including increasing patrons to the area along with removing the "sleaze" element that also draws many people to this quiet road (this seems to be a longer term goal).

Detractors say the closure will deter customers because of traffic jams and a lack of parking. The car valet service outside bartitude certainly has fewer spots for them to use. It's also going to make it a lot more difficult to grab a taxi after a bar fine.

Although it's temporary, do you think it will be a good thing, a bad thing or will make no difference to the circular road bar scene?

Just to update you all, Decades bar has been officially closed down. My friend Meng is also looking for a pub now to work. Most of the girls either kena sent back to Philippines or go JB to work.
Not sure why they suddenly closed down, I also shock when I heard...
