Hi. Male guy seeking advice on this.
Need advice regarding separation and divorce and its impact to HDB ownership.
Can both still keep the HDB upon separation and divorce until the couple is ready to sell it away?
Do I need to engage a law firm to do separation or divorce?
What advices do u have?

I think the correct question is "do you still have a share in the hdb post divorce".

Remember, WC is a powerful tool to pawn married men in Singapore. I know diverced men who lost their HDB and part of CPF to their ex-wife

The point of a divorce is to seek a clean break and a fresh beginning. Why seek a divorce if you intend to hold joint assets after the divorce is finalised? The intention to divorce is questionable.

The hdb you bought is based on a family nucleus. I have friends who bought out each other's share after a divorce. So end up the husband is the sole owner now and the transaction was completed provided he's above 35 and MOP period is fulfilled.

I want a clean break but have a kid that will be going uni next year.
Thus I’m wondering if filing for separation first and after kid graduates from uni then I file for divorce.
I’m already sleeping in separate room.
If I file for separation, hdb will not require the hdb to be sold right? Only when divorce?

I had a guy friend who divorced and he let his wife get his share of the hdb. She needs to pay back the amount he had utilized from his cpf, including cpf interest. So I’m thinking that arrangement will be fine for me.
But how can ex spouse claim part of their cpf? That’s really absurd WC.
