Threaten by freelancer

Hello all brothers here, recently i had been fooled by freelancer operating as individual from social media and ask me to buy some card and the middle man say they have resources to track my address from my phone number if i do not pay deposit.

Can people trace our home address by just a number in whatsapp ? I did not have any personal info on whatsapp account other than number.

I am foolish enough to be tricked into this and if any brother happen to read this, please be careful.

Personal number that are registered with "organisations" can easily find your address if there's an insider leaking personal information for them, you might have seen news of employees working at telco releasing information to loan sharks too

Don't talk rubbish la. That's the outlier, not the norm.

Scam is a scam. Just block them. If you show you have a tight hold on money, they generally don't bother to waste more time and commit crimes to come after you.

Just block the number.
They can't do anything to you so don't worry.
Warn your friends and family members of such scam for their awareness.
Call scam hotline to report.

Just a scam.

It would take money to find such things out, assuming you know people on the inside.
No one would spend money on such unknown without knowing if there will be pay off enough.

How much money have you spent or given already ?

Scammers will use fear to try to intimidate so that you will comply with their demand.

Always threaten personal harm or such to make you worry. Stand firm. Don't give in.

Block their number and make a police report.

For alternative Whatsapp number, you can buy a pre-paid Malaysian number that only need your passport detail.

This will make it harder to trace you to your home in SG.

I usually have a couple of overseas SIM card for such use case.
