yes, you are right. 2 years back, 12 days after my surgery in HCMC, i so wanted to come back singapore. But i cannot stand, cannot walk and must lie down. no other airlines want to take me. My father and my wife approached SQ and they allowed me to lie down (although not flat), even during take off and landing, and must be on business class. 3 business class 1 way ticket back to singapore (myself, my wife and my dad) cost me US$2700. Plus the ambulence transport from FV Hospital to TSN airport, up SQ plane and fetched by Singapore ambulence at changi airport to my house, to my bed. Cost me nearly US$4k (inclusive of air ticket). But its worth it, when i lie on my bed in singapore, i feel its worth it.
Cost me 10k I also will fly back ! The feeling is different

u dun need your wife to get PR to buy flat...
1) if your wife have no PR status and your child is not born , u can only buy in the resale market.
2) if your wife is not PR but your child is Singapore Citizen , you are eligible to buy BTO as well and also resale even Sale of Balanced Flats.
my wife also haven attain PR status but i have a son born here in Singapore.
i just bid for the Sale of balanced flat launched last month and got assigned a queue number to select flat...

sir singviet, fly every weekend even on budget airlines will make me eat grass every month it's not about want to bonk her everyday. now i feel like me and no1 are no longer about who kc who or who got higher ROI... i just want to make sure i make the correct choice and hence trying my best to maintain this relationship and work for our future... it seems like this requires some budget... i have no choice but to work harder in my day job and do some sidelines at night and weekend. and also cut down on cheonging to save some money...

yup..definitely not easy...in Singapore , single income family is never easy so finding an understanding vb as bxa is a challenge..
am so far quite lucky that my bxa never ask for $$ to send back to her home every mth...its more of a send when the need arises basis... but now have little OC so expenses also went up...
think carefully when u decide to have a VN wife who probably have difficulty finding a decent job in the beginning...
it comes with alot of responsibilty and committment as well..

Lobang I dun have ... air ticket will never have lobang .. the most is people dun charge you their service charges ...
but then u need to know some tricks to save some money ... and also u need to spent time to research for cheap flight ... need planning ... with these u sure to flight efficiently ...

Good info. If buy a resale flat near your parents, the grant will be $40k. What will the split be before the wife gets PR?
Resale flat is not cheap nowadays. For a town that's further away, like Jurong West or Choa Chu Kang, a 5 room flat will cost around $500k, with COV at around $50K. 4 room flat around $420K and 3 room around $340K. Not easy, unless you have a big amount of CPF that can be use to pay for the flat.
The 2 most expensive assets in Singapore now: Apartments and Cars. But apartments have appreciating potential, cars have depreciating nature. In such a small country like singapore , with burging population, properties is surely a good investment. If bros can afford it, its good to invest, even if its just a flat. My bet is quite simple, government cooling measures will only slow down growth, but not decrease prices of properties. Your spouse will also be a happier person if she can stay with you and kids alone. Not many daughter-in-laws like to stay with mother-in-law, unless no choice.

If you want to marry in VN, the legal age is 18 years old. But why marry such a young gal? Young gals are playful and not stable. I think there was a study done not long ago, gals that marry young tend to divorce after 2 or 3 years. In marriage, we want stability. Young gals are naive, when they argue with you, they tend to stray easily. Gals after the age of 25 or 26 are better bets. In marriage, there's lots of endurance and sacrifice. If you feel you cannot stick with 1, better not marry. If divorce after have kids, the kids suffer big time. My years of marriage till now, there are times when i feel like giving up, but the thought of my kids hold me down. Got to be responsible for what you have done, we are not ang moh, can marry and divorce as many times as we like. Sometimes, when a certain attitude in marriage couldn't work, just ponder over it, change your attitude and problem can be solved. Good luck !!

Allow me to clarify on my previous post as i only base on that bro current status (child not yet born) and if first time buy flat from HDB.
I have known 2 singapore man with Viet spouse on LTSVP that purchased flats with joint ownership.
yup..can...my frend did and now his bxa got PR so the balance of the grant he was entitled to was topped up so he need not top up the balance with cash...
