It is understandable that wife should support husband financially, it will make life easier and comfortable for the husband.

If wife not working does not mean that, is a frog in the well.

If you do not want your wife to work, you should be earning more than enuff to support her and the family expenses. At the same time, when your wife work, it doesn't mean she will have affairs outside. This will depend on how much you trust your spouse and your spouse trust you. Life in Singapore is not easy, to depend on one source of income is not enuff most of the time. unless the source of income is big source

My secondary school classmate married a viet gal thru marriage agency about 3 years ago. He is working as a school attentant, monthly income is about $1600. I did not know how he can survive, as his wife is not working. anyway he seen to hv no financial problem, he and his wife are still very loving.

If i do marry my viet g/f one day, i will let her work if she wants to because i don't want her to feel bored at home waiting for me to knock off from work. It's more like letting her past a bit of time and of course it must be a day time job. In this way she can also supplement abit of the house expenses and if she needs to send money back to vn, she can use hers...

If she don't work, its ok for me. Anyway one of the criteria to meet when marrying a foreign wife, we need to show that we can support a family with only our own income.

Even if we earn $1600, it will be enuff to feed 2 mouth without any luxurious things like car, big house, home theather system...

maybe its their education system and culture, there's a lot of things that Vietnamese need to learn and adapt when they settle in Singapore.

Do business will earn slightly more than normal salary job la. This little extra is to compensate businessman for the extra risk he is undertaking. If do business earn same as salary job, then i might as well work normal office job.

I'm beginning to experience the priority sense oredi... u may be 'ongxa' here or 'ongxa' there.. but ultimately what comes first in priority is:

a) family mbrs (father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, bro, sis)
b) offspring of family mbrs
c) in-law (even bro inlaw gets better treatment) mbrs
d) good friends of the person
e) close frens of family mbrs acquainted with
f) then the so called "ongxa"

The family tenets in the Sg Planning Agency is, in terms of priority:
a) your partner
b) your kids
c) your family mbrs

Only then harmony comes in the family...

Sad life...maybe I should change boat...

don't need to feel sad abt it, i know ur feeling of being neglected! personally i hv not experience with any viet partner yet, but i know that they place priority on family first.... the last is oxa, all these i hv heard from jc area.

overall i still fancy viet gals!
