one of my wife's friend in Singapore return to Vietnam every quarter. For every 3 months she stays in Singapore, she will request the husband to allow her to go back Vietnam for 1 or 2 months. When your viet spouse tells you she misses home, do you think she needs to go back for a month or 2? I will think 1 week back home will be good enough.
hahaha...first the Vn gal dreamed of coming to Sin and marry a local Sin man...no reason for them to miss vn home so much that they wanted to spent 1 to 2 months there...if for me, I will not allow my vn wife to do that...

Re: Understanding Vietnamese Life Partner

thanks to our strong sing$ , yesterday watched news sing$ closed 1.38 against US$

last trip to HCM only gets 12.75...talking about clinc n hospital there, visiting gf' relatives in hospital in can tho...the families members of those patients having 'great time pinic' rather there to be looking after sick relatives...haha

By having young foreigner wife really became worries to men....many many years back worked in paya lebar area, afternoon knock off office go city plaza, many indo PR married there earning partime $,some looking for bf....so daring, never even bother to take boat home to indo to earn the monies

So many years so many viet gals married here or some here to work WL,they always hanged to go city plaza too... housewife mixed n meets with friends or relatives here to work WL, also easily influence by them...

Re: Understanding Vietnamese Life Partner

I will be returning to HCMC to stay FULL TIME soon to oversee a new venture. Missed those days when i was there full time and had lots of opportunities to explore new ventures and enjoy a more relaxed life. This time round, having to experience the restrictions i had doing business in Singapore, will want to stay on in HCMC permanently. Maybe my Charlie Angels, with newer and younger gals, will be back in action

When my wife went to renounce her Vietnamese citizenship last time, it seems that translation charges for vietnamese and foreigners are different. Charges for vietnamese are much cheaper.

Re: Understanding Vietnamese Life Partner

I normally send in Vietnam Dong via western union. But the rates quoted are always much much lower than that you can get from the goldsmith shops at Ben Thanh Market. No choice la, this is the price to pay. Was told at the Benh Thanh market goldsmith shop around 3 days ago that buying USD with VND will be 18400, sell USD will be 18300

..staying over at Vn/HCM would need a long-term pass.. It's ain't easy/cheap to do so..I believe.

In the past, some acquainted party planned to setup hotel/restaurant there but I dunno how it gets on now..

There's also Botar@HCM for a while...I tot I could 'moonlit' a bit there during weeklong hol - ala a seminar-like event on special topic. Since Botar has "rtn", opportunities are scarce now... (other than the Vn-veterans going there on their regular b.trips). Of course, one could try to 'teach' at the Aust off-campus..(onli if PhD-endowed)...
