when I was there early this month, while watching the TV news, my girl sort of shared with me that over there, many ppl are without jobs now. and the TV stations also give them daily update of the various prices of each type of food. they do feel that it Not easy to live a life now..... so I quickly told her, singapore worse, can die cannot sick. if sick, hand stop mouth also stop.

so advise her to cut down some unneccessary spending and hint to her that monthly allowances will decrease soon... she is ok and understanding.

Actually, on a comical side, their newspaper is us, the good old son-in-law. So we have to constantly write the word "POOR", "NOT DOING WELL.." on our face for them to read. Otherwise, good or bad times, $$$ request will always comes. They only understand of our strong SG dollar but never realise our high cost of living here and the difficulty in earning a living. I am sure those with Viet gal who are not familar with our society pretty much expect that a 8 to 5pm job means can go off at 5pm sharp, which actually is not.

Well, as for me, i too tell her daily about the retrenchments la, stock losses la, big firm's big shot committing suicide la. etc etc....

Though she dun get the whole picture, i guess she more or less knows whts happening - the whole world is in a real mess!!!

But like i have said, she has been quite thrifty all along so i guess she's quite understanding to this situation.....and she has been telling her family for years, of the need to cut down on unnecessary spendings.

Hope the economy gets better fast so that it'll benefit everyone in every trade!!
