Try the top floor resturant up Panet Hotel. They have dinner promotions for New Year eve, or romantic dinners for valentine.

Other places that are posh I would recommand is Goodway hotel, the bar and restuarant, and Novotel Hotel.

These are top places IMHO. Of cos, there are other places where there are good food, cheaper prices, but no so good enviroment, that you can go for a meal, not food courts I mean. [/QUOTE]

Talking about food, I can contribute a bit here.
Your above mentioned can be labeled as the so call POSH places, but IMHO their food was not that "posh". Just taking 1 example, at Novotel hotel they have the BBQ and Steamboat on Saturday night, food quality was

The one place I would recommend if we want good western food in a little posh place would be the steak house on the 2nd floor of Planet Hotel, very good quality and true western food but a bit pricy. And actually there are a few pubs/cafe in the NED also with good food with reasonable pricings, I strongly recommend the Wallabies, there you can find the best pizza in Batam, some say SinKaPo..

Try the new Planet Disco located at the rear of Planet Holiday hotel. Lots of happenings there and u can see hanky lanky in the dark corners of the disco. Couples in action or group orgy going on all night.

Oh …..that means KTV & Disco is already open for business. Hotel is definitely not officially open as I can see there are no staffs at the reception counter and the lobby is not decorated. Well, someday I will check it out again.

WINS hotel is at Jodoh, opposite Ramayana Shopping Mall. Last time, WINS hotel is used to call Windsor Square Hotel. Windsor Square Hotel is always mix-up with Hotel Windsor which is near to Penuin. They have change the hotel name, may be due to confusion, if I am not wrong.

Salah Info = steak house on the 2nd floor of Planet Hotel = should be PLANET HOLIDAY HOTEL

Nope, this country need a new hope. At that time, Gus DDur is a Religious Figure. And Mega hubby is the one behind all the mod and casinos.

I personally like local food over Western food. However, sometimes you got to bring overseas business contacts to places that looks good.

But food wise, there are many places that serve good food, but not so good enviroment lah.

You ever tried their sushi in KAZU? Next to hotel 888. Nice place and food wise, cannot compare to singapore standard, but still the best in term of price. There is another one at taman kota Mas, a Jap resturant, the shop houses. Prices are cheaper, but enviroment is not so great, still alot of Japs go there to makan.

Depends on who I take for dinner, so got to know a few places at all times. As for entertainments, got a few at finger tips too. Hehehe. KTVs? Not into it, but usually at a few better upscale places, if have to. Still, always depend on customers.

So Batam Man, you still in Batam?

One of my favorites is the Ikan Bandang Bakar. Small restaurant in Mega Mall does a good job. I m sure this exist elsewhere but I wished I knew. Used to have the best Ikan Bandang Bakar in Semarang. Live from the farms. Anyone knows of other locations, plse contribute. Thanks.
