Batam is a good place to go alone to rest and relax,just like going to Sentosa except you need to bring along passport.If you can understand the language in my post,you will be fine with communication.

2. i usually recommend others to read HERE (and onward) for tips.

Personally,i prefer to go Batam alone. More freedom,unrestricted and gradually more fun,hehehe...hope my tips above help.

Actually this pic is taken from website,i believe got at least nearly 5 years old...lol. The new look is almost the same but has a bigger sign board that shows Gold Bird with neon lighting,hehehe...

I realise that a lot of Buidling near to Batam Centre are mostly vacant,eg Carnaval Mall (even those building around it)...

It depends on how many people is using the wifi at any one time within the hotel premises,meaning more tourist slower,less tourist faster.

At most time,you will see full bar in your phone,but speed is slow becos many are using wifi at the same time.

I have posted about these poor woman on why they took up such jobs before. POVERTY is one of the main reason.

Reached Batam Gideon Hotel. Got in room window,but window facing a wall of another building which is still under construction,hehehe...no fridge cos i took a "superior" room,...tap water cough out rusty water,no bath tub,Room uses door scanner type (no need to insert),same for the room power as well,so cannot use alternate card to power the room while i am out,to reach my room when taking the lift,i also need to scan the Lift too,hehehe....wifi not bad tho...

Rate 9500/SGD from opposite Formosa Money changer while yahoo finance online shows 9527/SGD.

Reporting live from Gideon Hotel as of this post,hehehe...

*i am also testing their WiFi.

And just realize that I wasn't given the white card by Horizon Ferries. We should be able to get it at Habit Bay right?

Our Northern and Southern neighbours all do away with embarkation cards. Only Sillypore still using white cards for foreign tourists. Hmm.....
