You got it. The whole idea is on the word, "hungry" (or "hunger"). The hungrier they are,the better the service. Paying big or paying small in this case usually isnt a big issue anymore.

I already qualify for a free night stay in Formosa after being with them for 15,so I guess they have no worries of me not paying up whatever I owed them (if I did).

A few times,i just tell the housekeeping guys/ladies that i am checking out and i can just step out of hotel bypassing reception after handing them my room card keys.

I guess beside trying to make each of my trip better as i go along,i also try to add new elements to make my summary look more 'lively',and hopefully when i read back one day, i can feel the situation of yesterday's good and bad. Each Batam trip be it good or no good,allows me to pick up something.

My memory isn't too good,so summary I wrote helps me keep track of my travel. Hope one day got 'fate' to link up with you for a tea or coffee.

1. Keep in mind, Batam can be a hit and miss (applies to most countries too) when it comes to girls and that you are on a 2D1N trip (believe me,you dont want a "miss"),if you plan to visit pubs and bars,forget booking joints. (hit and miss here meaning you may have a hit or you might have a miss on girls if your plan is to 'hunt' for girls at pubs/clubs)

2. Nagoya Hill Mall,not my type of place. I have not been there for quite a while until my recent uncle/auntie trip. Still the same old thing with nearly everything more expensive than most parts of anywhere else in Batam.

3. Bro Blackpage would be able to advise you more on this one. He's a good Batam cewek huntsmen and not working for the Evil Queen tho (an illustration from the movie, Snow White's Huntsmen),hehehe...

4. Any other hotel near formosa will wok just fine. NED area does have a couple of good enough 3 stars/4 stars hotels like Harmony Hotel,Goodway,Panaroma,Planet etc and if you are on a budget,Hana is a pretty neat 2 star hotel. In case you miss your 'hunt' in NED,can always cross over to New Berry to find a girl to cuddle you to bed till next morning. (for an in case all else fail situation since its less than 1 min away)

Definitely. One thing I learned about Batam is that it is unpredictable. I never know what will happen at night. A major failure and disappointment or a fantastic dream experience, anything could be behind the corner. But that's the fascination of Batam, in my opinion.

Therefore, after my first visits to Batam, years ago when I used to stop for just 3 days after some days in Singapore, now I do my best to stay as longer as I can in Batam: one week usually, just transiting in Singapore from KL.
Anything is cheaper in Batam than in Singapore: hotel, seafood, and of course entertainment. I guess that nowadays a Viet girl in Ipanema may ask not less than 250+ SGD for 1 hour at hotel. With that money, my mileage in Batam is way longer.

Staying one week in Batam usually allows me to make many mistakes and have some failures, still having the time to hit the jackpots too. In statistical terms: a longer time means more experiments, that is more positive and negative results. I tend to forget the failures and keep the memory of the outstanding experiences, so at the end I am always enthusiast.

A 2D1N trip is at risk: like tossing a coin and hoping for the good result. It could be good, it could be bad. Accept whatever comes, and enjoy your night.

About hunting pubs and discos, experience and strategic behaviour can only improve the probability of success, but one must be always prepared to the event to go back sleeping alone.
It also happened to me to be pessimistic and with nothing in hand at 3am, and then hit a jackpot at 4am.
What is important is to not overweight failures (and fall prey of depression) and successes (and become way too proud of yourself). Every day is different, every day the destiny has something new for us.

My advice is to read my long reports of the past. Not because they are a guide on what to do (it may be not advisable for anyone), but because they offer a survey on what's possible (but not on everything possible).

Best disco for hunting: first Newton (but be careful to not be a small fish and fall prey of the sharks), then Pacific and Planet 3.

Best pub: NoName! Best live band, better than other bands I heard (M1, Last Pub, etc.)
Pubs in Kampung Bule? I don't recommend any except the above, unless in a week of stay in Batam one gets bored of others and wants to do something different.

Don't go to Newton your first time. Not suitable. It's an INDONESIAN DISCO. I don't think you ever went to such a place before, not in Singapore. First time it's like on another planet (and scary)

Not sure on Da Vienna,but during the beginning when i started Batam,i have a 6 - 7 hour extension at Formosa Hotel once which cost me 400k. Lets not forget,formosa hotel used to cost S$67 or so when i 1st started Batam. I do not recommend extension bro,but i would suggest you leave your 'luggage' at the hotel reception and come back to collect them once you are done later. Most hotel allows that and its Free.
