Contrary to whatever you read about KTVs and SNs opening, they are all false. As of Mar 16, all KTVs and SNs are still closed.

IMHO, it really all boils down to who you trust and how much risk you are ready to take on.

under chinese law , a foreigner staying in private accomdation have to register
with the nearest police station within 24 hours

Ok, let's put it this way: Not only foreigners, even China nationality, as long as they are not staying in their own house (house bought by themselves or stated in their ID card）, they are suppose to report to the police station and get a 占住正. I remember a few years back where my KC's friend was telling me there were undercover police checking for 占住正 on the streets along 中元节.

So my question is, how many WLs actually know about this regulation? Even if they do, do you think they register themselves? I hardly doubt so. So if the WL never register themselves, does it make sense for them to report police?

Yes just back from Xiamen, CA and CP this morning. CA S are still close, KTVs are open but there r no girls and to top it off Gong An comes in and out to check. Also there are Gong An stationed at the hotel we r staying (He will inform guest that all female guest have to be registered and also penalties for calling girls). We decided not to test the system in CA and went to CP.

CP - All S closed, foot massages - not all open, Lion hotel 天天 , 好运 seems to be closed for good. KTV not open and heard that 帆船 hotel got raided. Only way to have fun in CP is only if u have regulars or mummy's help - but even that girls some time afraid of being caught (they would have to get their family members to bail them out and go back to their village). Also they mentioned that there are foreigners getting caught by Gong An in CP. (So we decided not to test our luck further in CP and decided to go to Xiamen)

Went to Xiamen and call mummy Kary after that (have to book the high-speed train from SZ to Xiamen early - they sell fast, we could not buy the train ticket when we reached SZ the first day and thus tried CA and CP). Xiamen's S, massages are all open, KTV are also open - the newly opened one is fun but more expensive than CP (have Russian and Romania chicks), the older ones recommended by mummy Kary - pricing are more like toned down.

FYI - Xiamen mummy need to be tipped but mummy Kary did not take our tips
