Re: Events In CP
Yeah agreed... the old switch-a-roo common scam here...
I suggest that the our GUEST here carry small note in one pocket and their wallet in another, the small notes are to pay for drinks, cab, or whatever purchases you have to make in the open... I have seen someone try to pay a cab driver and a thief reach in the cab window and snatch away his wallet... Another thing is if you come here often to PLAY... a good idea is to open a bank account here... the process is painless just bring your passport... that way you do not have to carry so many MAOs... which is a hassle... you get a UNION PAY card which is more accepted than visa or master... If ya from Singapore you can just use the remittance service to fund ya account... word of advise the rates here suck do all the money changing else where before ya come to CP... Any advise on changing money SEAJ? z |

From Hong Kong, I would mostly just withdraw from an ATM the requisite RMB's I need - mainly to make sure that I do not get fake notes/have recourse if I did get such a note. But I have also in the past used a money exchange on the streets which do give pretty good rates - as Hong Kong is over-run by Chinese visitors flooding the system with all the RMB's they bring across. There's a lot of the counters all over the tourist areas and I can compare rates easily as they're posted up quite prominently. And when I do use one of these exchange counters, I'd make sure that they count the bills on those Bill counting machines as they supposedly detect all fake currencies. SEAN |

May be problems in CP tomorrow
Just heard from a usually reliable source that there is going to be demonstrations in Chang Ping tomorrow Sept 18 - which marks the official memorial day for Japan’s war-time occupation of parts of China.
This demonstration SUPPOSEDLY will center around Huaren and The new Number 8 malls, but I have yet to get confirmation as to the whole thing. In any case, it would be prudent for bros to be a bit more careful tomorrow, especially since Nationalistic fervour seems to be on the rise and there had been instances of violent demonstrations these past few days. Just a li'l heads up - for whatever its worth. SEAN |
