If its any consolation to you guys who kenna robbed in the riau islands..... you are not alone..... even our elite VVIP oso kenna.

Real case happened some months back.... a well known millionaire took some guests on his yacht and went partying near riau.... took some ceweks / models n cina ah mois onboard his yacht to service the guests... kenna raided by some men..... in the end Mr. VVIP had to "pay" US$200,00.00 before the yacht was allowed to sail back to singapore.

Good to heed warning.. Not like me i warn about batam told my story and terrible experience i Kanna Zap for nothing. i trying to hard to earn points... Wat to do people never read post properly blame me choose not to believe i also kanna.. Suay..

Actually it's not that bad really... such things could happened in almost anywhere, if you just stay low or keep a low profile, 99% of the time is that you'll be safe in Batam.

Yes, stay low profile and try to "blend" into the place. Dun talk so loud and laugh so loud like you are in sgp kopi shop, less attention means less risk.

One thing the local chinese told me, when talking better in mandarin then hokkien or teochew, I do not really understand why, maybe coz the locals speak dialect always mix some bahasa. So if you can do that, U blend in better.

As for the part, SGP Malays in btm, does not mean they speak their tongue, U speak Malay in btm, they know at once U not local, even if you wear head to toe stuff bought in btm.

Hmm...I dont get it. U mean by speaking Chinese dialects, it would be a disadvantage to us. Why is it so and in wat way?

Tat Malay bro could speak Indonesian...and some of their local dialects too. It was, maybe their foreign dressing, simple though, and his Chinese friends, I suppose, tat "attracted" the touts/thugs as u may call it.

But if one is an Indonesian Indian or Chinese, who could speak their dialects, then I tink those thugs wont bother them...

Hmmm, I'd being working here for the past half a year? So far so good, no one really disturb. So far cheong a few times is all head straight to KTV, pick up gals, go room. So probably lucky in that aspect. Discos are no no as some locals warned me abt not getting involve with those drugs taking gals. Dangerous.

Oh well hope everyone enjoy their stay here!

Hmmm...probably tats the safest way...book a gal, straight to hotel, bonk and eat in hotel. No going OUT to disco. U dont need luck this way. But wheres the "freedom" to move?

I dont tink I would enjoy myself this way. I prefer to roam around Nagoya/Jodoh, shopping mall...without having any discomfort..e.g. approached by drivers/ojeks (quite irritating at times) for services bringing one to book gals...and oso those suspicious stares one would get occasionally.

Can get sick whole day staying in the hotel. Over at TBK I dont encounter any of the above.

I do not really understand why, but I think the it is the "words" we use in sgp and in BTM, If u ever really listen to the locals speak in hokkien, U will know the difference. I can tell at once if they are local indonesian chinese or sgp chinese.
As for the indonesian bahasa, I can tell U it is VERY different from Malay language. If you know bahasa, U can tell directly if the person is indonesian or malayu.
And you have any idea how many dialect there is in indonesia? No way a Malay bro be well versed in any, unless he have lived in that part of indo long time. Even a jawanese, he go bali, he can't understand the local dialect. Maybe just know a few simple words, that's why many can tell which part of indonesia the rest come from by just listening to their conversation, thou not understanding the full content. Just simple example, the word "Mas", means gold in many part of indonesia, but for javanese, it is kind of like calling a person "abang", and many javanese women call their husband "mas".
