That's right. If you stayed only 1 night, cannot buy when you reach habourfront. Must be 2 nights at least.

But, when at batam, you can even go habourbay mall basement, got shops that you can buy duty free.

Almost everything in this CNY trip all not "shun" (didnt go smoothly).

1.Step out of house to Harbour Front ,my haversack sling broke off cos i carry too many heavy things to Batam and have to head home again to change a new one.

2. Ferry to Harbour Bay delayed for 15 mins.

3. Reach Harbour Bay,super long queue at custom even when i booked Business Class and get to be the 2nd man to reach custom area from my ferry.

4. There are more tourists than taxi situation at Harbour Bay,taxi asking 70k and refuse to reduce,even ojek asking for 40k.

5. Reach hotel,my girl i pre-booked fly me aeroplane and go back kampong.

6. Go to a few booking joints,just to see them close shop.

7. Check in Goodway Hotel receptionist give me a "piss off" attitude.

8. All shops i wish to go eat are closed. Eg. Meximo Pub Wan Tan Mee,Mickey Mouse,Bai Long at penuin market etc etc.

9. Money changer exchange rate is 9300/SGD (regardless how hard i bargained)when i can get 9450/SGD under normal days base on latest forex rate.

10. Due to Hotel full house,going breakfast like going to collect combat ration in the army. The dining area in Goodway cannot hold so much people.

Hehehe...and all these are only after my 1st night review for my 1st CNY trip to Batam. Still got one more night to go. 1.35pm Batam time now,heading to Tua Pek Kong later and if time allows,will look for Pas Massage.

Counting my "curses" now,will count my blessing (if any) when i get back Sillypore.

Guess got people replied you liao and they are all correct. Just to add,a bottle of Marteh is S$89.80 in Sillypore Harbour Front DFS,but at Batam DFS Harbour Bay is less than S$80. So i am guessing DFS Batam is a bit cheaper.

Price increase for girls in most booking joint is about 200k to 300k more. 600k to 800k girls become 800k to 1 mil respectively. Those 1 mil and 1.2 mil cost 1.2 mil to 1.5 mil respectively. Gold Bird is still the only joint that increase the most in percentage. (600k girl to 1 mil)

Serve them right,cannot go home early on 1st day CNY...lol.

There are lots of indian customers in booking joint base on my observation too. Poor girls,i think they dont like getting book by indians. Almost all of them show black face when they were being booked by indians.(honestly,i havent seen one that smile) Every 10 customers,there are at least 5 indians,2 Chinese and 3 Malays base on a draft count.

Ok I know that in order to buy DFS liquor in Singapore one has to be out of Singapore for 48 hours.

Does it have to be exactly 48 hours or the DFS Habourfront/Tanah Merah cashier just refer to the passport stamp date?

Some update news from some taxi drivers in Batam on 20 Feb 2015 :

1. Some girls in booking joint has receive UP TO 5 overnight booking in one single day.(meaning 1 girl receive up to 5 overnight booking a day) They left the room (back to joint)complaining stomach,menses etc etc. And do things that force the customers to reject them by deliberately giving attitude problems. Only give 2 shots to customers and run back to respective joints.

2. OKTs in those joints whose girls took up to 5 OVERNIGHT bookings a day DO NOT and wont take in any complain cases over the last 2-3 days and the next 2-3 days according to taxi drivers. Their HP in off mode or dont answer phone at all from unknown number. Girls demand is currently more than supply.

3. There are many similar complain cases according to a handful of taxi drivers.

4. A lot of Indians,Bangladeshi and some Chinese men got hit by these unethical joints over the last 2 days.

So far there are 2 joints name mentioned in their conversation,1 or 2 from MM massage and mostly from Morena series of shops. Please note that i do not understand Bahasa Indo and my above info has only been briefly translated to me,so i may not be 100% accurate. I am just saying this to bros who plan to cheong Batam in the next 2 - 3 days aka weekends.

I will update more if i find anything new.

During all my cheonging trips i will always avoid going to batam or balai during CNY period although i have 4 off days this time round. I will also avoid cheonging indon islands during mth of muslim fasting too.

I've only cheong batam once during CNY and that's when I had my super gluey regular girl from Berry Indah. Spent my first and second day of CNY there with her then.. if have to take blind shots, I'll about batam instead.

It doesn't have to be exactly 48hours...usually I go back batam 0940 the first day and back to SG n reach at 1840hrs 2nd day...so that's only like 34hrs, as long you spend 2 days/different arrival return date,its OK. The DFS counter never ask me how many hours I been away,they only ask me to present my passport and show them when making payments.

But there's one case where my bags n belongings were check by the AntiVice/immigration near the exit door,they ask about my liquor, I juz told them I thought 48 hrs = 2 days...they juz let me go

Now I start to re-collect my memory that in the past I did like what you did also.
2D/1N and will be able to buy DFS Liquor when I return to Singapore from Riau Islands.

So if this theory works I can do a land crossing from Singapore to Malaysia via Johor Bahru on Day #1.
On Day #2 take a plane from any Airport in Malaysia to Singapore Changi Airport and be able to enjoy DFS Liquor purchase.

The DFS staff will inform you whether you are eligible to purchase...... and I think Malaysia is not included in the 48 hrs rule for multiple countries.... eg. transit at KLIA for onward trip to another country the countdown starts when the passport is chopped at the 3rd country.
