I manage to "fixed" this 2 main issues of the hotel's shortcoming during my stay there over my last 6 trips,hehehe...hence i am not changing Hotel until if there is a hotel that fits the criteria of :
1. Good cooling enough Air-con
2. Good internet connection - most important
3. No in-room insects.
4. No hantu
5. Joints , food and entertainments within less than 5 - 10 mins walk
6. Reception & staffs speaks English.(& friendly)
7. Safety
I spend some effort fixing a few of the hotel's bad,so i'll stay there until i can find a bad which i cannot fixed or if the hotel moved. Come to think of it,i hear from the people in Centre Point that part of the building is going to be convert into a hotel. It's beside Formosa and am looking for that to happen,hehehe....

My question about VOA is,if my indian fren will need to prepare US$25 and approach the VOA counter during check in,but will the VOA counter chop his passport or will he after leaving the VOA counter needs to que up like i do to get my my passport chopped? Plz note here that VOA counter & the place where the cutom chop passport is 2 different terminal in the arrival area.
Formosa do have buffet,but i don't know what is Ramadan buffet. No pork no lard in the buffet tho. The serving pattern is as usual.

the VOA visa will be chopped into passport. However need to que up again on VOA arrivalline. Im not sure about charges but the VOA booth is at the same arrival hall,easily located.this is what i noticed in batam centre. Not sure about harbour bay side.

Hate to point this out, but you're in a known mongering location and IMHO, any girl who would agree to go out "at late night" as a first meeting must be at least "suspect."

Bullseye to my question,it's the queue line custom counter that usually have no people i am talking about. I know where the VOA counter is,the queue line counter to chop passport where the VOA applicants pass thru is at most time empty. Seen a lot of ang moh pass thru it w/o getting their passport chop. Worry later like Sillyporean walk over custom w/o passport being chopped then on the way back later kena trouble.

Ah...so the VOA visa is chopped into the passport...so after gettin thru the VOA counter will still have to go thru another counter. Yes,that is what i need to know. Cos i have never applied VOA before and my next trip will involve someone who needs to do so,just don't wish that he got into any trouble with the indo custom as that'd also spoil our entire trip.

I apologize in advance if this is off-topic, but I'm wondering if any kind soul can give me an objective comparison about cheonging in Batam vs. Jakarta?
I've been reading old pages for answers, but its difficult to find reports which compare the 2 places. Since I'm not based in S'Pore anymore, its not a 1 hr ferry for me to Batam, and I"m not sure if its worthwhile to try here instead of my usual hunting grounds in Jakarta.
Some questions I would have are:
1. Gal Looks Quality in Batam vs. Jakarta (generally, but me boobs man!)
2. MP quality/pricing comparison (Anything comparable to Malioboro/Alexis)
3. Atmosphere/attitude of places? Batam more relaxing/laid back?
4. Hotel/Transport/Restaurant prices
The one thing I gather for sure is that overnight companion in Batam (600,000 - 1.5 Juta) can be much cheaper than Jakarta (1 mil in CJs/RedSquare/Bats, to 3-5 Juta from OKT). I'm guessing Jakarta has overall more gals/options since its a huge city, but its almost too big and everything not centralized like Batam. I wonder if Batam has enough options to keep me entertained for a week.
