DTAC, AIS and TRUE have pre-paid SIM cards at Suvarnabhumi, arrival hall. I think it's between entry gates 5-7. It was reported that TRUE was offering free SIM cards and you pay only for the minutes and/or data plan.

AirAsia affirms its readiness to transfer all operations to Don Mueang International Airport by October 1st, 2012. The airline assures Don Mueang Airport will be able to accommodate its growing fleet and provide its customers with the utmost satisfaction.

Mr. Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of Thai AirAsia, said that AirAsia’s decision to return to Don Mueang Airport was carefully assessed as he noted that the capabilities of Don Mueang Airport are in line with AirAsia’s own growth plan. Thorough consideration into transferring to Don Mueang Airport found that the airport’s capabilities, coupled with the Airports of Thailand Company’s assistance measures, meant AirAsia could better manage its cost more effectively and provide passengers with improved service.

“The uncongested Don Mueang Airport is sure to prove a benefit to AirAsia when it boosts its fleet of Airbus A320s to a total of 48 and welcomes more customers. The airport’s location also makes it conducive to further travel. Prospective travelers should have confidence in what Don Mueang has to offer”, said Mr. Tassapon.

AirAsia has scheduled October 1st this year as the date when all of its services will be based at Don Mueang Airport. The airline’s flights will retain their FD code and original schedules. Passengers who are affected by the switch to Don Mueang Airport, may alter their flights by either choosing another travel date on the same route either 7 days before or after their original travel date, at no additional cost. Passengers also have an option to convert the paid flight into credit shell available to be used within the next 90 days. The change options are only available to affected passengers who purchased their tickets before 26 June 2012 whose travel dates are from 1 October 2012 onwards. 1st question very easy... Ask the reception. If paiseh to ask most 5 star hotels won't bother u about the "extra guests" u bring back to stay with you.

If u barfing a girl for ST in Nana, Cowboy etc... They usually will bring u to a designated ST hotel becoz 1) its safer for the girl and 2) she can return back to her bar ASAP for the next ST. Costs Bht300 plus a condom.

Just a heads up flying to/from Suvarnabhum airport these days. Be prepared for some delays on arrival and departure due to single runaway (other been repaired to mid Aug). Before landing, can mean circle in air for awhile. Congestion also not only delay takeoffs but also may affect u-turn from departures elsewhere with late arrival aircraft. Worse off in peak hours, like in evenings.

My return from CNX by TG last night was held up near 3hrs: CNX domestic departure delayed 30mins > arrival Bkk 45mkns (circling in air). Departure Bkk delayed 1hr, not just due to takeoff Q but also kena wait for passengers delayed from connecting domestic flights. Do be aware on this knock on effect of waiting other connecting domestic flights -worse off on evening departures home bound.

i might not be a veteran but previously i spitted up 3 days BKK & 3 days Patts and in the end feeling more exhausted and rushed and not able to do many things especially more if you are a drinker or party goer you tend to go full-throttle and time seems to just flash by:D


though one word of caution is Pattaya is not a user-friendly place for credit card...so be sure you have your baht money to spend there...my friend made the mistake once previously spending most of his baht money in BKK and planned to use card while in Patts but he was left high & dry there, ending up paying for over-priced and lousy food at Hard Rock Cafe hehe

There is nothing much different between normal or micro sim, other than size. U can simply cut the normal sim into micro sim and use it on any devices.

Those highly paid nothing to do group in Europe came out with an idea to make the sim smaller to fit into smaller phone. :eek: Thus iPhone is 1 of the 1st to use this micro sim. Looking at the trend, new smart phone is not getting smaller :D

Not much different between both sim thus mobile manufacturers are slow to pick up the so called new tech and it giving users a bit of problem.

You decide on just voice or internet data combo option. But be aware, if you only use voice -off data settings either on your mobile, or telco sorts same out. I kena once on my tablet, after topping thb200 ..gone in 2 hours. Another time, zzzz and woke up credit mot laew on non-free standby.

NE, can't go wrong with unlimited 1 week thb299. Next visit, just top thb100-200 to reactivate (monthly shelf life). 3G quite spotty in some outlying areas, kena Edge network not fastest.

As for plastic, also the exchange rate sucks (like last week kena 24.2/3) when closer to 24.9 for cash. Now I hear it's 25 liao. And setup credit card security like SMS and email alerts immediately on charge. Not foolproof, but helps

Ya most banks should have this service. I normally use my Amex due to krisflyer points. Whenever I do a transaction via my card, I will receive an sms. I seldom use card in BKK even makan with customer. Cash is king :D

I thought the whole area considered under Slim? I'm not too sure since i've only been there twice, the last time was more than a year back. More nighttime flights tipped at Suvarnabhumi Airport

Authorities are trying to reschedule flights to relieve congestion at Suvarnabhumi airport as it enters the second phase of its expansion, which is expected to be completed in five years.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra discussed congestion problems at Suvarnabhumi with officials yesterday.

She said officials would try to decrease the number of day flights and increase night flights. At the moment, there are more flights in the daytime, when the airport is more vulnerable to congestion.

She ordered officials to speed up the 62-billion-baht second phase of the expansion of the airport's passenger terminal and the construction of a 13-billion-baht third runway to increase its capacity.

She also ordered greater use of Bangkok's second airport, Don Mueang, to help ease congestion at Suvarnabhumi.

Ms Yingluck has formed a working group to solve congestion at Suvarnabhumi and Phuket airports and wants it to propose solutions in two weeks.

Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT) chairman ACM Sumet Phomanee heads the group and members include representatives of Thai Airways International, Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Co and the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board.

The prime minister said transport authorities should discuss the number of visitors entering Thailand with the Tourism Authority of Thailand so they could work out airport development plans effectively.

Transport Minister Jarupong Ruangsuwan, who attended the meeting, said the prime minister inquired about the progress of runway repairs being carried out at Suvarnabhumi.

The AoT reported a 1.62km section of the eastern runway is being repaired.

Half the repaired section is scheduled to be reopened tomorrow and the rest by the end of this month.

Mr Jarupong said the AoT must speed up paying compensation to people affected by noise from the two existing runways, or construction of the third runway project is likely to face opposition.

AoT must pay as total of 12 billion baht to residents suffering from the noise pollution.

About 60% of the recipients have received their payouts, with the remainder due by the end of next year.

Suvarnabhumi airport has the capacity to handle 76 flights an hour. However, it actually serves only 55 flights per hour because the number of flights it can operate is limited on the western runway, where heavy noise pollution annoys people in nearby residential communities.

The airport says 80% of flights use the eastern runway, to minimise impacts on residents.

What is so difficult about putting the hotel's card in your pocket? Most thai hotels have thai words and directions for thai cab drivers so you cant get lost even if you're drunk.
