Police investigating woman for operating string of illegal massage joints in Yio Chu Kang

“SINGAPORE: Police are investigating a 41-year-old woman for her suspected involvement in operating more than half a dozen illegal massage establishments along Yio Chu Kang Road.

During an enforcement operation conducted by Ang Mo Kio Police Division, the woman, who is believed to be managing seven units within a building, was found to have operated the units for the purpose of providing massage services, without a valid licence.

"Thirteen massage beds, 16 chairs, two sofas, 12 portable blinds and massage-related paraphernalia were seized," the police said in a statement on Monday (29 Jun), adding that investigations are ongoing.

"Under the Massage Establishment Act 2017, the offence of carrying on a business of providing massage services in an establishment for massage without a valid license carries a fine not exceeding S$10,000, or an imprisonment of up two years, or both."

"For repeat offenders, the offence carries a fine not exceeding S$20,000, or imprisonment of up five years, or both," the statement warned.

The police said it takes "a serious view against any person who may be involved in such illicit business operations" and perpetrators will be dealt with in accordance to the law.”

This place was sort of self-inflicted, as in their operations, so obvious.

Right now as the MLs are caught, deported, no further replacements and thus no more new shops reopen, as travel is restricted due to covid. Supply shrinks further.

As for other more discreet places, let's protect the playgrounds and careful with the sharing.

Their presence is affecting rental yields of units above. Hearsay the rental on offer for a studio is around $1,600/month. Well below market rate of $2,000.

And the Hyatt lady boss has an excessive amount of ambition - hearsay aims to earn $2m in 3 years.

Just waiting to happen. Too rampant already, when such signs come up best to stop visiting such places. Like some say here, I’m surprised h wasn’t licensed though since it was so in the open and they gave off the impression it was clean from the outside

“Couple spends $7k to expose massage parlours for alleged vice activities after personal spat”

A woman and a man have spent $7,000 in their quest to expose massage parlours for providing sexual services.

The pair, who declined to be identified, had contacted Shin Min Daily News with allegations that three massage establishments along Little India were involved in illegal activities.

The woman said that she and her male companion had gone shopping in Little India on January 17 this year, at around 11.30pm, when they got into an altercation with a masseuse.

The masseuse had allegedly flashed her middle finger, hurled vulgarities and spat at them.

Half a year after the incident, the couple has spent $7,000 to hire a private investigator and collect evidence, in hopes of exposing the massage parlours for providing sexual services.

The woman told Shin Min: "We first paid the private investigator more than $2,000 for one week's worth of work.

"We then spent another $5,000 to hire people to pose as customers and enter the 'lion's den'.

"They patronised each massage parlour two to three times so that we could gather evidence."

The woman said all three massage establishments had operating hours of 10am to 11pm.

However, when the pretend customers showed up, they were allegedly told that the massage parlours were open 24 hours a day and informed about 'special services'.

"A normal massage cost $45 per hour while special services were $105," claimed the woman.

When reporters visited one of the massage parlours, its lady boss said: "The innocent is innocent, no need to be afraid of fake customers showing up."

The lady boss also believed that the informant was someone who had been involved in a dispute with a former female shareholder, thus causing the massage parlour to be implicated.

She added: "This former shareholder has already withdrawn her shares, so I feel that the massage parlour should not be implicated."

She also vouched that the massage parlour was a licensed and clean business that would never engage in illicit activities.

Reporters who visited the scene found three to four employees of different nationalities working in the massage parlour.

All said they were married women and would never provide sexual services.
