An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:
PLA got caught by their warship naming doctrine & convention, which they follow without exception.
I know for example aircraft carriers must be named after Chinese provinces, e.g. Liao Ning, Shan Dong etc. Destroyers must be named after major cities of a certain size/population criterias.
The problem came recently when PLA made too many ships, and particularly destroyers already ran out of names. There is a qualified city which name is not already used, after the last 4 remaining cities ...
