Yea but wouldn't the other party need to spend money to meet up with you as well? Plus there's two of them against one of you. Ostensibly, they would need to spend twice as much as you for the meet-up. On top of that, you are asking for remuneration to fulfill a fantasy of yours.

Trust goes both ways babe. You are investing time and effort into a meet-up, but so is the other party as well. This is not about "geigao"-ing a meager 50 bucks. No matter how small the amount is, nobody likes to be swindled. Its totally unfair to get the couple to take a leap of faith while you pretty much have the prerogative to change your mind and disappear with their money.
