Introduction
Hi all. I recently joined the Telegram group and realized that a lot of our bros here are still victims of the censorship in Singapore and are unable to view popular websites like PornHub, xvideos, xhamster, etc. I have done a lot of experimentation to get a good setup going, and I’ll be putting everything together in a short and simple package for the enjoyment of our bros here.

The focus of the guide will be on free and good. Less money spent on circumventing restrictions means more money you can spend chionging.

The guide is currently aimed at Windows and Android. If I can find out more about VPNs on iOS, I will update the guide as well.

Windows - Chrome and Browsec (Basic Setup)
For Windows, you will need to install the Chrome browser, as well as an extension called Browsec.

Browsec is the best VPN I've found because it's free, fast, lightweight, and you don't even have to turn if off after you're done. Turning it on is also a simple two-clicks after you've installed everything. I find this useful because if want to fap but need to jump through so many hoops, it's quite a turn off.

Chrome is by far the best browser for non-porn and porn browsing. The reason is Chrome has a lot of extensions that allow you to do whatever you want.

To get Chrome, follow this link (”https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/index.html#).

Once you have Chrome installed (or if you already have it), install this extension called Browsec (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/browsec-vpn-free-and-unli/omghfjlpggmjjaagoclmmobgdodcjboh?hl=en).

110073

After Browsec has been installed, you should see it in on the upper right corner of Chrome, which is the list of extensions that you have installed. I have a few other extensions going on, but let’s focus on the button for Browsec.

110074

The grayed-out circle is the icon for Browsec. It is grayed-out to represent that it is currently not enabled. To enable it, click on the circle and a pop-up will appear.

110075

You can click the “OFF” button to turn it on. Once done, it should look like this.

110076

And you’re done! Take note that when Browsec is turned on, it will be depicted as a green shield instead.

110077

Note: If you’re concerned about security and people tracking your connection, I wouldn’t trust it to hide your identity. For that, you will need to pay and get a real VPN. However, for masking your connection from the ISPs for the purpose of bypassing their restrictions, this is the best.

Windows - History On/Off
Time for a little bonus. I have a second Reddit account that I use for NSFW stuff. Going incognito essentially creates an empty shell in the browser environment, so all your accounts will not be logged in. I found it to be damn leh cheh to login. Fortunately, I managed to find this gem of an extension called History On/Off (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/history-onoff/ljbpakpmiimdmblcjjhhbfabbkmcgmdp?hl=en).

What it does is it creates a toggle in Chrome that lets you turn off all history, or to turn it back on. The idea is that you can browse NSFW stuff seamlessly, while still creating a history that doesn't have suspicious gaps in between if you forget to turn it off. In a nutshell, it lets you surf incognito without actually having to go through the hassle of going into incognito.

Once the extension is installed, your extension section should look like this. The blue square with a "H" is the extension's icon.

110078

When the "x" is on top of the square, it means your history is not being tracked. To turn off the extension, you can simply click the H and the "x" will disappear, meaning your history is being tracked as usual.

Android

For Android, there are a few browsers that you can use. Puffin and Opera both allow you to surf blocked websites; Puffin automatically routes all connections through their own server, whereas Opera allows you to toggle it on and off. I will be focusing on Puffin because that's what I use. If you're not interested in using Puffin, or you also use other ways of browsing such as Reddit clients, Chrome for the bookmarks synchronization, etc., there's a VPN called Betternet. It is available on Windows as well, but I found Browsec to be better.

Puffin Browser: Link (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cloudmosa.puffinFree&hl=en)

Betternet VPN: Link (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.freevpnintouch&hl=en)

Take note that connecting to Betternet is a more involved process than connecting to Browsec on Windows. Sometimes it can take up to a few minutes to connect properly. Sometimes you also get advertisements when surfing halfway, but you can't beat free. The upside is that the speed is decent.

I'm actively looking for a better VPN, so if anyone has suggestions, do tell and I'll compile them in and credit you!

Eh, you make a good point. It's not that suspicious and you don't have to turn it on and off if you don't want to. Maybe I'll just add it in for those who don't wanna install a whole new browser and/or extension but are willing to go through the trouble of changing the DNS.

Thanks :)

Thanks TS for your initiative.

FYI, Opera web browser for Desktop also have built-in VPN capability now. Thus, save the hassle of setting up the PC VPN config as well as installing a plug-in/extension.

Just need to go to Settings -> Security & Privacy -> enable VPN

Hi bro w00f, I agree Puffin offers better experience compared to Opera in mobile space but in desktop environment, there is no Puffin browser support yet. Thus, I suggested Opera as an another alternative. :)

I generally don’t like free VPNs, a little dubious some of them. However , I think TorGuard and PIA are pretty good, fast , reliable and don’t keep logs. Not too expensive.

However, if you have to circumvent censorship, change your network DNS.

GoogleDNS
OpenDNS
Cloudflare (I think this is the fastest) http://1.1.1.1 (official website with instructions)

Change your DNS and you can visit all the porn and torrent sites you want

Pornhub, Xvideos and Xhamster are no longer blocked in Singapore. I'm using Singtel for my home broadband and Starhub for my mobile data. Both work just fine.

Thanks for sharing. I generally do not subscribe to any of the porn sites but I do lurk around 4chan. It works best because they have a lot of 1 min clips which is enough to get me off. The down side is that I'll end up surfing thru tens of clips before I find the perfect one for the final shot. Works best on phone & best of all its free.

Let me know if you want to find out which board to find the videos. I recommend watching from the phone via a 4chan browser app.

Ok, so I am onto this Browser and it is installed. However, when I off my PC and on back and re-open Chrome, it does not show up on the right hand side. I only see the History.

Did I miss anything?

Please advise.. not too sure of the settings here.

Puffin is a great browser for Android but a lousy one for Windows. When you visit SBF and close the browser and reopen again, the history of your browsing is bang on the first page itself. I tried many things, but I cant make it go away. Even clearing history doesnt work. So beware.

Browsec is an anonymous Internet surfing addon for your browser, this is not a real VPN, applications you have installed, like FTP, Bittorrent and the like will not be tunnelled, Browsec only hides your computer IP for Internet browsing and nothing else. I am always very cautious when something is provided for free, my logic is that if I am not paying for it, the company must be covering expenses some other way.

Browsec’s privacy policy discloses that they collect information about your surfing habits when the proxy is switched on and data can be used for monitoring and research, it is also disclosed that after anonymising the data, it can be shared with business partners, a standard way of funding for most unlimited VPN providers, you normally get hassled to upgrade the service to a paid package or, like in this case the company makes money selling your data to outsiders.

It was alarming to me that there is no physical office and no information about the company behind Browsec, all they have is a support email address, obviously this is not a privacy friendly company but I was willing to give them a go to be able to read the news and playing online games behind a firewall, evading visits to banking or email accounts to ward off opportunities of passwords being captured.

If you want a proper VPN, buy a dedicated one, its not expensive, there are lifetime access for under $100 for multiple devices. I use THIS ONE (http://bit.do/Pornsafely)

If not you can use what Sammboy recommends IPVANISH (http://bit.do/Vanish)

Use the 1.1.1.1 app on your phone. Just need to turn it on when surfing, and turn it off when not needed, doesn't get any simpler than that.

Or you can use other browsers like Opera Mini.

Anyone knows how to bypass for TPG/ Simba data?

Singtel, starhub and M1 is pretty easy to overcome with DNS settings, but SIMBA still blocks access somehow...
