An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:
1. USA formed WTO after WW2 to control world economic system.
2. BRICs challenging the dominance of USA on WTO.
3. USA strategy 3 new system in 2008 - TPP (Asia Pacific), TTIP (Atlantic), TISA (Latin America). BRICS are not included at all.
4. New system's rules drawn out mainly by the top corporations in each of the region. Opaque/Secret and extremely complicated rules (over 500 pages).
5. Rules mainly favouring large corporates. Can sue local governments for affecting their income (investor rights regime over-write national rights and sovereignty), Trials are closed doors in a parallel judiciary system.
Its hyperbole but I assume TPP will benefit the following in Singapore:
1. GLCs - Can ride on top of this system to invest more easily overseas.
2. Flooding of foreign professionals - Which is already happening.
3. Singapore will be a hub for the parallel judiciary system under TPP.
