just heard over radio this morning that university of bradford together with university of california conducted a survey/study on UK men with low sperm count. One of the common behavior that these men have is drinking coffee at least 3 cups a day. Not too sure how they linked.

sperm is produced in the testicles...
for low sperm count, maybe reduce on the number of times u do..
store for some time...

did the doctor say ur sperms healthy??

if high sperm count but low quality also no use..
check with your doctor...

remember that the testicles also produce testosterone..

Did you get checked and was told you have low sperm count? If not, then go get checked. First go visit polyclinic doctor, then get referral, the proceed. Best is to KKH. There are a number of steps to be taken before they recommend IVF. That's like a last stage. What you and wife need now is to go through all checks to make sure you know the health of your "soldiers" (sperm), her eggs, her uterus and fallopian tube is healthy or got blockage, etc.

With the final results, then only you decide the best option to follow. Each check at KKH cost approx $50, with referral from govt doctor.

Also consider alternative treatments, like traditional medicines from Chinese, Malay or Indian sources.Sometimes they also work.

Went to the NUH for such a test, sorry, I just can't remember the cost. It was about 10 years ago.

I must have turned in the Brand’s bottle with the least volume of sperm. I’m surprised it did not evaporate altogether during the time it took me to zip up my pants to taking it to the nurse. I’m ready to kill her if she even smile or comment on the miserable quantity. I remembered my ears burning feverishly.

I am to return in 2 weeks for the report and doctor’s analysis. Luckily for me, the Guardian-bought pregnancy kit showed positive 2 days before the date. I went for the appointment anyway. My sperm count was low but so are 95% of all Singaporeans. Less of smoke, drink and stress., go for a holiday if you can and let nature do its work. That’s the doc’s advice.

Had this problem before. Went to do check-up and found out haf slightly low sperm count. Dr put me on some medication for 3 months, after that ok! Back to normal. Problem was with woman. Tubes blocked so sperm cannot swim through.

She was put on some treatment and we wasted about 6 months cause it did not work, so decided to see fertility Dr. After showing him various tests, he said can try. Let me tell you that after 3 attempts only successful.

Cannot give cost indication as it is on a case to case basis. My initial one cost me $10K. Kana pay so much also no result. Then my friend advise me to go to Malaysia cause there cheaper.

Good luck to you bro. A work of warning – the whole exercise is very stressful on both parties. Woman will be pumped up on medication which gets them extra moody, and there is also the point where the woman would need daily injections for hormones. End of the day woman and me no time to go to dr, so dr say can self inject. Quite interesting.

But all in all it was worth the effort and stress!

Actually, we got a son six yrs back.
Since then, we have little sex becos of work and stress.

3 yrs back, got high colest and high blood pressure after those nkf check.

Then, we started to plan for another bb but tried for nearly 2 yrs also no result. Wife will only make love to me during her most fertile period. 7 days after her period. We will rest for a day interval for my sperm to build up.

I got married for 3 years without any children so went to KK check up and found that i got poor and low sperms count exactly same situation as yours.
My wife working place also quite stressful so we decide to go on holiday and she also tender resignation to her stressful job.
Within the next month, she got pregnant so we cancel our trip. We are overjoyed so please take things easy and relax.
I got 3 children already with age gap of 3 years and is more than happy.
I realise the situation all coincide which is that i only did with her one time only on that month on her fertile period. Other times i tried more than one time but no result even on her fertile period. I also don't know why so maybe just follow my guideline and u soon be a father. Cheers.

I realise the situation all coincide which is that i only did with her one time only on that month on her fertile period. Other times i tried more than one time but no result even on her fertile period.
Vernon, I share your view on the "take things easy & relax" part ... I know of so many couples who has been trying so hard, they just couldn't succeed - yet the moment they decided to give up hope & just fuck for fun, the wife got pregnant within months. :D

However, I must also say there are still the minority few who just cannot make children on their own lor ... again, a couple friend of ours:
1) husband got high number of spoilt sperm (not just low-quality), as in sprem that dunno how to pentrate eggs
2) wife has cum that's so acidic in nature, it kills 80% of any sperm that passes her vaginal passage
3) so mathematically speaking, only 20 out of every 100 sperm made it to the eggs alive, of which only a small handful knew how to penetrate the eggs

Well, they're now on an IUI program ... meaning the sperm is wanked out at the hospital, before before jabbed into the vicinity of her eggs - thereby bringing up the numbers (ie 100%) of survival through the vaginal passage massacre. If after multiple tries (at once a month) without success, they'll move on to IVF, where even the penetration process will be surgically carried out.

As for costs, it all depends on which gynae you engage ... the best will be Chris Chen at Gleaneagles - one of the pioneers in test-tube babies (a Sillyporean who found his fame working in Oz, before relocating back to this island of gold), but his charges can be anything between S$20k-S$30k & he won't even waste time with IUI attempts. If you cannot afford this, then consider going to KKH where charges will be about a quarter of the above-mentioned.

Alternatively, I also know of the TCM approach ... the most famously succesful one being 颖川 at Jurong East. I have 1 subordinate who was pronounced "unable to have children" by her gynae, due to both her very irregular menses (difficult to conceive) & her weak body (difficult to carry the baby through 9 months plus) ... yet, after religiously sticking by this (highly bonkable) sinseh for months, she's now a proud mother of 2. 2 other subordinates of mine tried for more than 10 years without success, also are proud fathers after seeking treatment at this place.

True story:

Sitting in a clinic one day, I started chatting with this older Malay guy, seemked around his 40s. Soon conversation turned to children, he told me he has 2, older is now a teen. But it took years for wife to conceive. He explained everything he tried for over 7 years, and almost gave up on Western medicine after spending over $30k on varuious treatments and stuff for both wife and himself.

Then they went to this village in Mersing (Johore), and stayed for a month being "treated" by the village old lady. I remember a few things he said:

- eat only steamed food, including vegetables and fish, and soups; stay away from fried stuff if you can;
- the guy has to eat a lot of groundnuts (the "Hand" brand Menglembu nuts), because they help the sperm get more sticky
- Lady be treated with some herbs like jamu

I can't recall all other stuff he mentioned, as this was about 3 months back. But it worked for him and his wife. So now I really believe that your answer can be from alternative treatments as well.

Low sperm count does not necessarily mean unhealthy sperm, as sometimes if the solders are strong, they can swim right up to the eggs. I think the equivalent distance to swim is around 8 to 10 miles. SO you can imagine how much hard work they do...

So chances are if they are not strong, or are unhealthy, they won't make it to the female eggs.
