An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:
One of the biggest reason is Hong Kong being like 100x more famous than Singapore. Is funny how this happens everytime. Almost every non-Chinese person ( aside from Malaysia ) don't know where Singapore is located at or worst don't even know what Singaporeans are. Yesterday, I've met a lot of friends who asked me where I'm from and I told them " I'm from Hong Kong and Singapore ". Most of the time they know where Hong Kong is but almost none of them have a clue a about Singapore. What surprised me even more that even the British people don't know where or what is Singapore and even many Mainland Chinese living in the U.K have no idea about Singapore.
So I was thinking why is this?????
- Both were once colony of British.
- Both share similar backgrounds, their ancestors and grandparents who migrated to the colonies
- Both are like a city state country with a small peanut size
- Both have roughly the same population
- Both share a culture of eastern and western mix
- Both came from Southern China
- Both are a 1st world and ranking in top 10 GDP per capita.
Yet why is Hong Kong are like 100x more international known ?
