It is quite cheap to tap on local telco's overseas data roaming packages for Malaysia and Indonesia.
Here's one that give you the edge in further destinations. However, you need to purchase the sim card add-on from them a few weeks before you fly off.
It is convenient and you do not have to switch sim cards thereafter
